This book tells the compelling story of a young woman's mysterious illness that manifests as psychosis but turns out to be something else. What is eerily intriguing about the story is that the author remembers very little of it and she had to discover what happened during this period and try to piece it back together so that you feel as if you are going on the journey with her. Narration was excellent. Highly recommend this very human journey through a medical mystery.

Loved this book. The narration was absolutely perfect for the story. The story moved between laugh out loud funny, to stress and tension as I fell into easy empathy with the characters. The only real negative comment that I have about the audio book, is the music. Once or twice, it was brief and seemed to be in an effective place. The majority of the time however, it was just annoying; especially when playing over the narration. That is certainly a minor detail compared with the rest of the book and performance. I highly recommend this book and I can certainly imagine listening to it again.

This book does get bogged down in quite a few places and the narration was rather plodding. On the other hand, I hardly knew anything about Sulfa and learned quite a lot from this volume. Very good history on the American consumer's approach to medicine (the section on patent medicine).

Couldn't recommend this enough to folks interested in emerging diseases. I learned a tremendous amount and the performance was also well-done and compelling. Skip "The Coming Plague" and go directly to this gem.

Though the book did get bogged down in a few places, I learned a great deal and between this and a few other books, had my eyes opened to the limitations of medicine.

The information about the emerging diseases and why they were becoming prominent.

No. She needs to learn to pronounce Ebola correctly. Not to mention quite a few other words. Very annoying.

Go back to fiction for a while.

While this has good info, the Hot Zone, The Demon in the Freezer and particularly the Viral Storm were much,much better. Of those, I have only listened to the Viral Storm and read the other two.

Funny. Good story.

Lemony Snicket, although these events are not quite as unfortunate but I found them much more enjoyable.

Didn't read the book, but I loved Ms Kellgren's performance.

No particular moment. I got caught up in the story when the children were introduced and found it to be a very enjoyable, laugh out loud good story.

I have not read the print version. The audio edition was outstanding due to the amazing voice work of the narrators.

Everything. Exceptionally well-written. The prose was almost lyrical at times in its use of language. Exceptionally good development of Puck, Sean, Corr, Dove and the island of Thisby. I felt like I was there living the story.

It was perfect for the characters and drew me in completely.

Too many to note, although the ending was exceptionally moving with Sean and Corr.

Can not recommend this highly enough to anyone who loves a good, well-written story--especially one involving horses. Somewhat took me back to my childhood of getting lost in the Black Stallion series.
