The year is 1984 and the city is Tokyo.

A young woman named Aomame follows a taxi driver's enigmatic suggestion and begins to notice puzzling discrepancies in the world around her. She has entered, she realizes, a parallel existence, which she calls 1Q84 - "Q" is for "question mark". A world that bears a question....

What did you like best about 1Q84? What did you like least?

The voice acting was decent, and the overall concept of the book can be intriguing.

    Any additional comments?

I honestly could not make it through the book. The length is a little ridiculous and so drawn out that you can completely forget what is going on while the author is describing a mundane situation with little meeting.

Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Would you consider the audio edition of Redshirts to be better than the print version?

Definitely, Wil Wheaton gives life to the story.

Have you listened to any of Wil Wheaton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Wil gives the same level of outstanding performance as he did for Peter & Max

If you could sum up Ruins in three words, what would they be?

    simply classic Card

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The cast reprises their original roles from Pathfinder and continues to give a good performance.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    That would be giving spoilers.

    Any additional comments?

If you enjoy Orson Scott Card, you will enjoy this book. It is a good continuation of the story from Pathfinder.

Stephen L. Carter’s thrilling new novel takes as its starting point an alternate history: President Abraham Lincoln survives the assassination attempt at Ford’s Theatre on April 14, 1865. Two years later he is charged with overstepping his constitutional authority, both during and after the Civil War, and faces an impeachment trial.... Twenty-one-year-old Abigail Canner is a young black woman with a degree from Oberlin and a letter of employment from the law firm that has undertaken Lincoln’s defense....

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only a period fanatic would appreciate the story. It takes half the book to get to the trial and then side steps the trial for other sub plots.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting is the acting.

Two bestselling authors first met in a televised Caltech debate on “the future of God,” one an articulate advocate for spirituality, the other a prominent physicist. This remarkable book is the product of that serendipitous encounter and the contentious - but respectful - clash of worldviews that grew along with their friendship.

What three words best describe Deepak Chopra and Leonard Mlodinow ’s performance?

    Civil, Informed, Debate

Was War of the Worldviews worth the listening time?

    Absolutely worth the listen.

    Any additional comments?

This isnt a book to convince you one way or the other, but to give insight into the opposing views and perhaps to give some understanding about those who do not share your views.

This one just was not as good as the first 4. Unlike most of Card's other books, you just cant get a real connection with the characters. The series would have been just fine without this one.
