It may be difficult to imagine a life-affirming book which begins with the main character, a 14-year-old girl, recounting her rape and murder, but Alice Sebold's debut novel is just such a book. Having received advance critical acclaim that before now was reserved only for literary giants, this book will no doubt invite comparisons to works such as Tracy Chevalier's The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Toni Morrison's Beloved.

" Having achieved the realization of a spiritual understanding, especially when it results in the transcendence of human suffering and desire " I was both humbled and enlightened by this book. You will never take for granted the "little" things in life that are so important, the things we let slip by every day. Be prepared to go thru a range of emotions when listening to this one.I highly reccommend this book.

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, a baffling cipher found near the body. As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, sort through the bizarre riddle, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

The problem with this audio book is it has too much detailed information left out due to being abridged. I have read the actual book and found it a very good and interesting read. When listening to the audio book it felt like half the book was left out.
