Andy is as simple as it gets. He admits his dislike for work and I find his sense of humor to be fantastic. We listen together (spouse and myself) and it just kills me when our schedules turn and I must wait to begin listening again. We hold on to each word and laugh out loud with Andy's antics. The crimes are being described more graphically and this might not thrill some listeners. What I like most about David Rosenfelt's books are the real human traits of Andy, Lori, Pete and Sam. They have funny things to say and they don't take everything too seriously. Some of the plot is stretched too strange to be real, but this is why it is called fiction. I think the best part to the Andy Carpenter series is the "feel good" approach to daily life. A body needs laughter as much as air, water, food and shelter.
A man has an apparent heart attack and dies. Friday and Smith investigate because no doctor was present at the time of death. Everything changes when a little boys tells his story.
A married woman phones to report her mother missing. The phone was disconnected at mom's house so the daughter went to visit in person. The person answering the door was not her mother and reported that the mom didn't live there anymore. Disappearance or murder?
A woman who was recently divorced has disappeared. She has been seeing a new man in her life and he wants to marry her. The ex husband also wants to marry her, or remarry her.
Friday goes undercover and tries to find the leader of a heroin drug ring. The trials and concerns of the LAPD trying to keep the streets safe for all.
Friday and Smith have their work cut out for them. A heroin addict has tried to commit suicide, or so it seems. Good sound quality.
A man disappears after a jobless man has borrowed money and repaid it with a bad check. Good sound quality.
While the story is good it is difficult to track the story when the sound jumps to a different part and then back. A young man comes in and talks to Friday and Smith about a camping trip where Mexican horsemen ride into camp and cause a ruckus.
A small grocery store has some checks stolen from the back of their book. 14 checks. 7 have already been cashed by various stores around town. It appears as though the check thief has stolen an ID from a dead man.
A woman's body arrives in the hospital and she is pronounced dead. Chloroform is the product she has been inhaling. With no ID and no reports of a missing person it appears to be a suicide.
Friday and Smith are working homicide and there is a man who calls to report his wife is missing. They discover that she comes to the bar they own each night at closing to pick up her husband. When she doesn't show the bar owner calls police to report her missing, knowing she must have been kidnapped.
