I have listened to this book and found many good examples. I took my listening device on a recent personal trip that did not go well. This book had me looking at my own job, and my trip, in a different light. My perspective has changed.
I will listen again and again. The content and narration were REALLY that powerful.
A man disappears after a jobless man has borrowed money and repaid it with a bad check. Good sound quality.
While the story is good it is difficult to track the story when the sound jumps to a different part and then back. A young man comes in and talks to Friday and Smith about a camping trip where Mexican horsemen ride into camp and cause a ruckus.
A small grocery store has some checks stolen from the back of their book. 14 checks. 7 have already been cashed by various stores around town. It appears as though the check thief has stolen an ID from a dead man.
A woman's body arrives in the hospital and she is pronounced dead. Chloroform is the product she has been inhaling. With no ID and no reports of a missing person it appears to be a suicide.
Friday and Smith are working homicide and there is a man who calls to report his wife is missing. They discover that she comes to the bar they own each night at closing to pick up her husband. When she doesn't show the bar owner calls police to report her missing, knowing she must have been kidnapped.
A local gambling joint has a criminal head at the helm. His wife is murdered. Just two years later, on the same day of the year, his second wife is taunted to be killed.
Friday and Sith are investigating a man who is murdered. The man had just left the hospital and was heading home, he was visiting the maternity ward to see his new baby. On his way home an auto accident happens and there were two angry men who scuffled with the victim, finally shooting him before fleeing.
A many approaches bank customers with a sad story and his need to sell some diamonds. The people are asked to take several blue white diamonds to a jeweler for appraisal. They find the jewels to be real and valuable. Then the switch happens.
A string of burglaries is reported. A fur coat and jewelry is disappearing from home after home. The coats are not running up in local pawn shops or clothing stores.
Fourteen women have been robbed and beaten. 10 women police officers act as decoys in an attempt to catch the perpetrator.
