This book would not have been so enjoyable to listen, if the narrator had been different. Too funny! I am just drawn in and can see Tom and characters in my mind, clear as day. I loved the stumble when it came to winning the bible. David and who?
There are a few snipettes of the audio that are cut out. Someone wasn't watching what they were doing. But these can be skipped over. It would be nice to see an updated audio prepared. If this were a paper book, then the missing pages would be cause for return to the seller. Because this book is in the public domain, the text is easily found.
If you want a funny story, the kind that are dismissed because "boys will be boys" then you should really enjoy this audiobook because of this specific narration.
Lamont and Margo are driving along after a skiing trip and the storm sends them to a strange house requesting help until the storm passes. They are turned away by more than one person. Murder follows and The Shadow must solve the puzzle.
Sometimes the recordings vary in sound. This begins with whispers in a prison cell which goes to normal volume. Probably a good edition to not use headphones. Two criminals break from prison and have a score to settle with Cranston.
Sometimes The Shadow stories aren't as believable or real as they could be. Sometimes 30 minutes just isn't enough time to develop characters. This one was very good in that regard. And media and some audio issues but a strong story.
This recording has a few skips where the old media just didn't come through. This story starts out in a plane where Lamont and Margo are talking about their latest adventure. Lamont is flying the plane.
A bank robber needs help so that he is not recognizable to anyone. If others know who he is then he will surely return to prison and probably the death house.
He is also the main character in this story and he asks Lamont Cranston for help because his uncle is planning put him in a sanatorium.
follow when murders are happening and the killer accused is deceased! The Shadow has his work cut out for him to solve this crime wave. This story has poor audio quality. Age of the media is a factor.
while they are driving near a cemetery. The young woman was wearing a beautiful gown. When Margo realizes she read about the disappearing woman in the newspaper, Margo insists the woman wasn't real but a ghost instead.
Several socialites have been racking up gambling debt. To clear the IOUs they are coerced into paying their debts through crime.
The story is about a curse a gypsy woman has placed on a family. Fear ensues and The Shadow must come in to find the solution. A few hisses and pops.
