What happens when a young child is traumatized? How does terror affect a child's mind---and how can that mind recover? Child psychiatrist Bruce Perry has treated children faced with unimaginable horror: genocide survivors, witnesses to their own parents' murders, children raised in closets and cages, the Branch Davidian children, and victims of family violence. In The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog, he tells their stories of trauma and transformation.

Would you listen to The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog again? Why?

Yes, because it is important for us to realize how these things happen and as I said, it leaves you with much food for thought...

What other book might you compare The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog to and why?

I'm a senior but I've just started reading by using audio books so as fast as I can listen I haven't read enough books to compare yet...

Have you listened to any of Danny Campbell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several as there were many stories in the book. However, the end of the book is something I wish everyone could read and take to heart.

    Any additional comments?

I totally enjoyed this book. It's not a happy story but people tend to say things like, what were they thinking, and this book helps you to understand where they are coming from and why they may have responded the way they did.

Six-time Emmy Award-winning funnyman Tim Conway, best known for his characters on The Carol Burnett Show, offers a straight-shooting and hilarious memoir about his life on stage and off as an actor and comedian. In television history, few entertainers have captured as many hearts and made as many people laugh as Tim Conway. There's nothing in the world that Tim Conway would rather do than entertain - and in his first-ever memoir, What's So Funny?, that's exactly what he does.

Where does What's So Funny? rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A fantastic in between book for some of the heavy history stuff I've been reading...

What was one of the most memorable moments of What's So Funny??

    Too many to mention

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

I loved that Tim, himself narrated the book...I don't think it would have been anything had someone else done it...

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh out loud...

    Any additional comments?

I was listening while donating platelets at the Red Cross so I had needles in both arms and my ear buds in...you are not allowed to move your arms while donating so laughing while being relaxed and pumping with one hand was quite the trick plus it made others laugh at me because they had no idea why I was laughing. I guess you had to be there...

The New York Times best-selling author of The Six Wives of Henry VIII and The War of the Roses, historian Alison Weir crafts fascinating portraits of England’s infamous House of Tudor line. Here Weir focuses on Elizabeth I, also known as the Virgin Queen, who ascended to the throne at age 25 and never married, yet ruled for 44 years and steered England into its Golden Age.

No disease the world has ever known even remotely resembles the great influenza epidemic of 1918. Presumed to have begun when sick farm animals infected soldiers in Kansas, spreading and mutating into a lethal strain as troops carried it to Europe, it exploded across the world with unequaled ferocity and speed. It killed more people in 20 weeks than AIDS has killed in 20 years; it killed more people in a year than the plagues of the Middle Ages killed in a century.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Help to be better than the print version?

    Yes, yes, YES!!! WAY YES!!!

What did you like best about this story?

The realness of it. It takes place when I was in high school. I grew up in the North East and lived thru it all but I can't begin to believe, in that time, people were still treated that way. I remember asking my father at the time how people could treat each other that way. Just a beautifully written/spoken book. The movie as good as it is just can't do the book justice.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm just getting into audio books so nothing to compare much but I loved this one for sure!

If you could rename The Help, what would you call it?

I think the name is the best but maybe America's Shame?

    Any additional comments?

I am thrilled to be able to hear books now and understand peoples excitement in reading books.

What did you love best about What It Is Like to Go to War?

It did just what the title said! It tells you what it is like. Not focused on blood and guts but whats going on in you head. What we are taught about killing and how we process that in war.

What did you like best about this story?

The references to historical great leaders in war and what they said about war.

What does Bronson Pinchot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Totally!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. I hated to stop and yet I needed to take time out and think about it from time to time.

    Any additional comments?

I think this should be mandatory for everyone to better understand our veterans, what they have been through, what they go through upon their return and how we can help to make it better for them.
