It's been months since Reverend Curtis learned that his wife Charlotte had affairs with two different men, and for now, he continues to be cordial and respectful to her. But he's also made it clear that once their son Matthew graduates high school, he will be filing for divorce. Charlotte, on the other hand, continues to do everything possible to make amends in hopes of saving their marriage. Unfortunately, Curtis is ready to move on and is being propositioned by a woman who desperately wants to become the next Mrs. Black.

Would you try another book from Kimberla Lawson Roby and/or Maria Howell?

I love Kimberla Lawson Roby but the Curtis Black stories contain so much of the same drama that it is played out. New charactors and plots are needed. At the end of the book I notice his son has gotten the girlfriend pregnant so the drama continues.

Has The Reverend's Wife turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

It was okay, but the narractor often sound like they had dry mouth.

Could you see The Reverend's Wife being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    No.

He was tall, at least six feet, with dirty blond hair that hung over his eyes. His T-shirt read Nietzsche Is My Homeboy. So, that was Matt. Who Julie Seagles likes. A lot. But there is also Finn. Who she flat out loves. Complicated? Awkward? Completely. But really, how was this freshly-minted Boston transplant and newbie college freshman supposed to know that she would end up living with the family of an old friend of her mother’s? This was all supposed to be temporary.

The clock ticks, and the second one can still be saved. But the police never make it in time. The second one dies. For years, the killer has plagued the city with the same pattern, but the police never pick up on it quickly enough.

“I’ve spent most of my life trying to make it to a future that still hasn’t happened, or avoid a past that won’t let me go. I don’t remember when I’ve ever just stopped to live in the present, to hold on to the seconds I’m in.”Emma Thomas’s struggle with an abusive home life came to a heart-pounding conclusion in the final chapters of Reason to Breathe, the first installment of The Breathing Series — Rebecca’s Donovan’s bestselling romantic thriller (USA Today). Now her secret life has been exposed, and her tormentor can’t hurt her anymore. Yet, some are still haunted by that night. The bruises may have faded, but scars and fears remain. How will she reclaim her life when she’s barely breathing?

In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection - pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises, not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth - at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.

Would you consider the audio edition of Reason to Breathe to be better than the print version?

Yes, because you get a real feel for the characters. When I read I imagine certain actors and actresses for each character but audio gives their roles more depth.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sarah, she is a true friend. Whether she was giving on what to wear, on love or life she was always there...well almost always there for Emma.

Which character – as performed by Kate Rudd – was your favorite?

Jay he was such a lovable jerk, but whenever he spoke I knew it was him

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Life is for loving and living

    Any additional comments?

Many serious topics were discussed. In the movie version this book would probably be rated a PG 13. Even though many of the topics are hard to discuss, they are too serious not to discuss with the youth of today. Abuse is real! Teacher, Counselors, and Doctors to name a few, are trained to observe the signs of abuse. The abusers have trained and honed the art of deception. The person being abused like Emma is often too afraid of life without the abuse.

On a rainy November day, police detectives Pia Kirchhoff and Oliver von Bodenstein are summoned to a mysterious traffic accident: a woman has fallen from a pedestrian bridge onto a car driving underneath. According to a witness, the woman may have been pushed. The investigation leads Pia and Oliver to a small village, and the home of the victim, Rita Cramer. On a September evening eleven years earlier, two seventeen-year-old girls vanished from the village without a trace.

A captivating story with an excellent depiction of Germany. The narrator's pronunciation of words and accents of each characters made the story more believable. However near the end I was ready for the story to end. The plots were great, but too many for one book. I think a second book to wrap up cliff hangers would have been better.
