I thought I loved Moist Von Lipvig (Going Postal and Making Money) but then Willian Deword and his crew stole my heart (or should I say funny bone?) I laugh til I cry every time Otto takes the first "iconograph"! After 25 years in the newspaper business, I find this book terrific on so many levels. Do yourself a favor and download it now!!!

BTW, I just left a holiday party in Torrance where another guest's father had gone to high school with Louie. She said when they met last year, he remembered some of their juvenile antics clearly and was a great guy.

I struggled through the first half of this book trying to like it because it was given such rave reviews, put it aside for several months, came back and liked the characters even less! Waste of my time and my monthly fee.

Starts off interestingly enough and some of the historical flash backs are okay, but the modern day "love story" and the villian Advisor made this book extremely difficult to finish. I had to force myself to do it. Any wonder the author was working on her PhD when she wrote this and made the Faculty Advisor the "bad guy".

I have tried several times to listen to this book out of whatever misplaced loyalty makes me not want to put down a book. But today, I have thrown in the towel -- please do not let this author read any more of her own work. She is a writer, not a actress or narrator. If the story were more interesting or less insipid maybe it would be worth sticking -- but it isn't interesting and it is insipid!

I really enjoyed Lisa See's ancestor's story of their arrival in California. So I was anxious to read her latest book, however, it isn't something I would recommend. Her obsession with the woman's plight in ancient China interferes with her ability to tell the story. I have stopped in part 4 and am not sure that I will finish it.

Interesting information, but I believe it would be better if the reader did not attempt to imitate the voice of the historical characters. All of his women sound trivial as though they were discussing "shopping" instead of world changing issues.
