Michael York is a pleasure to listen to as narrator. Perfect voice, very clear, doesn't detract from what is being said. I, unlike others, am unable to break down who reads what, but they have all done an excellent job.
Very good sound quality. Background music and all narration combines for a terrific listen.
Everyone should have this audio book. Put it on an MP3 and listen where ever you are, any time.
This book was boreing to me. Just too much 'stuff'' that I think should have been left out. My mind wandered often. Too drawn out. I'm afraid I didn't finish it. Close to the end, though.
I really enjoyed listening to this narrator. A lot of enthusiasm, quick and alert to read so
well. I felt that he was having a good time reading this book. He made me smile a few times, which didn't take away from the story at all.
So much truth and completely believable. It could actually be right around the corner for us. If not already happening. Just look at the news. Some bits are from a good imagination, but the book held my attention from beginning to end. I agree it is a lot like Michael Crichton, but more realistic.
A very nice break from the last 5 or 6 that I purchased and just couldn't like at all.
Haven't gotten very far. I do not like the narrator. Going to be tough listening and following this one. James Rollins is a big favorite and I am already disappointed.
I thought this book was rather boreing. He had some real history and I found that to be the only good part of it. The reader was too forceful throughout the entire book, so I didn't care for him so much. The author skipped and bounced from here to there and, honestly, I had a hard time following it. With the narrator always in the same mode, if there was anything exciting happening, it didn't leave any impression of difference to me. My mind wandered. I had no trouble at all composing my shopping list in my head while listening to this one. I even listened to it twice....all the way through. I believe this will be the last Brad Thor book I will ever buy. Give me a David Baldacci any day.
I am a fan of Brett Battles, but this one, so far is a big disappointment. 1 hour 40 minutes into it and I have to say, this woman is a very poor narrator for this kind of book. I started it over because I have no idea what it is about.( Realizing my mind went elsewhere while she is droning on). Now, just 35 minutes into it again and I am disgusted. Should have tried the ebook and read it myself. I don't understand why the people who make the choice in narrators don't realize how important their decisions are. These books aren't cheap. It is even worse when you buy as many of them as I do and about half are good experiences and the other half are like driving down the freeway and tossing money out the window.
I can imagine the difficulty in reading for an audiobook to give all potential listeners a great experience. There are some out there who can do this with what seems like a cake walk for them, and I am amazed by their excellent job. That being said, I try to give the opposite readers a break and just struggle along with them to the very end. (I know I would be terrible at it).
I have had about 5 books in a row that I simply couldn't get through. Monotone, droning on, etc, is not what will keep me buying these books.
I am putting this book away for now.....maybe another day I will try it again and feel differently.
I am not sure if it is just me...but I can't stomach any book that goes on about incest or sex trash. Too much time spent on the fast forward button, I really couldn't say what the book is about. Starts with a cop who killed someone and lapses into the 'junk' I don't want to hear. Can't get the earbuds out fast enough. Maybe another day when I have nothing else to do, I will try again and maybe update my opinion. Until then, just not good listening for me.
I enjoyed this book. Not too drawn out...kept my interest all the way through. Narrator was excellent as well.
Too much insignificant information makes this a long listen. Good to fall asleep to, though, because narrator has nice soothing voice!
I have been listening to this for 3 hours and have no idea what the point even is. Male narrator just yells his way through his parts. I don't like listening to him. Too many side steps in story making it very difficult to follow.
2 1/2 hours of boreing drivel. Too much detail about nothing and bounced around making it difficult to keep my attention. Couldn't finish this one.
