A nice quick story from Betty's life. Funny, interesting and gives you a great insight to her life.
The writing is mesmerizing, the story is exhilarating because it is true and because of the love he shares with the animals he loves and wants to save. I listen to books as I commute and this book was so engrossing and real that I hated it every time I shut off the car. It really tells you about life in Africa for an animal conservationist and the animals he respects and loves. Makes me want to jump on a plane tomorrow.
A little slow at the beginning, but once it gets going it is quite a tail of two different times that finally mesh at the end with great stories and historical relevances that make it even more interesting.
It was great to hear the inside Hollywood stories from Debbie Reynolds but she is a very poor reader and had a hard time even pronouncing some of the simple words and you could really tell she was simply reading it like a book she hadn't seen before. I was surprised that being an actress all these years she couldn't put more personality into it and not sound so stilted while reading. Some of the sentences didn't make sense the way she stop and started words and phrases.
Story was interesting as usual but Kate wasn't the center of the story as in most of the past stories. It seemed more about Chopper Jim than about her which is different. But after that it ended in a way I never thought could happen so it did leave me speechless.
Love her celebrity type novels but sometimes having so many different people narrating it is confusing. The story is great but ending was rather expected but did enjoy the epilogue with the information about everyone's lives at the end..
Loved learning about fire jumpers and loved the stories of love, murder and life as a jumper. Love Nora's writing of characters and so much food in it that it made me hungry every time I listened.
Liked the story but wish it was longer to get to know the characters. Great reader.
Great period piece of intrique and love. Good dialogue and story in Dickens era London.
This book was recommended by a friend and I was addicted to listening by the second chapter. This book leaves you wondering about our life on earth and what might be out there. The read was great and the characters leave you wanting to get to know them even more!
William Shatner lets you into his life in a way few celebrities do. His read makes it even more interesting giving you an insight to his storied life within the celebrity of his long career. His honesty and love for his career comes across in such a wonderful way that I haven't heard from other celebrities. A great Listen.
