I read the reviews before getting this and I have to say I have loved this book. I was concerned by what was described as over use military jargon, and way to much detail. To that I have to say, this is a trilogy, and the author must build the story for it to expand into a three volume set. I will be reading the second book next.
No that the story has been setup book two keep unfolding a new world and it just keeps getting better. Great story, great characters, great narration.
I have listened to a few other book about post apocalyptic settings and this series is by far the best. It has a twist that changes every thing! Great story, great characters, great narration.
I started this book, and after a two days (about two hours) I could not help but feel I had herd this story before. Going back through my old Audio books I did. This book was on Podiobooks, up to the end to book1. Then book two starts.
Well any way this is a very cool adventure! I love the writing, and the narration. I can't wait to get started on the next book.
After finishing the book "Swan Song" (Fantastic book) I decided to listen to this book. I have been very pleased, and have enjoyed the fact that this was written in the 70s. As I was a kid in the 70s I was able to place my self there. Also I felt it followed the disaster movies of that time, ware there is a large build up of the story, and then the after math. The book brings a hole bunch of people to the reader, each with a story. I would recommend this to any one who likes the post apocalyptic time. I would also suggest you read this then read "Swan Song". I think it would have been easier for the people in the 70s to make it over the people in the 2010s.
I was hooked from the first 10 minutes of this book. What a ride! This is the first book to ever give me nightmares. I do not mean spooky monster nightmares.
