"Good story - mediocre narration"
I like the characters & plot. The only drawback was the narrator didn't differentiate between granddaughter & grandmothers voices which was a bit confusing because they change without announcing the change.
"The best of 3 madoff books"
I have listened to the whistleblower's book and the daughter-in-law's memoir & now The Wiz of Lies. The other 2 books were good - whistleblower's was very good - but the Wiz of Lies is the best. It gave a very overall, balanced look at madoff & explained complicated concepts so that the general public could understand them.
"Loved it!"
It took me back into history while engrossing me in an amazingly satisfying tale.
Stern - complex and mysterious
I thought his reading and accents were great. However several major characters have similar sounding names - that is the one complaint I have about this book. It took awhile to distinguish the similar sounding names. But that's not the narrator's fault.
Engrossing story.
"Loved it!"
Mystery & romance combined! I don't usually read romances but this was awesome.
Great thriller
"Enjoyable"
It was very intriguing . It kept me wanting to learn more.
Highly recommend
"Wonderful but stopped at assassination"
I wish the author had continued to follow Mrs Lincoln after the assassination. I was looking so forward to that and was greatly disappointed at the abrupt end. She was so flawed that I knew after the President's calming influence had ended she would have been even more of a hellcat as her detractors described her.
I enjoyed his narration.
"Love Francine Rivers!"
Moving, uplifting, informative. It actually teaches as it entertains.
This is the 2nd Francine Rivers book I have read & enjoyed both. But the first was the best - Voice in the Wind.
Of course the disfigured slave girl was my favorite.
"Very very good"
It had just the right number of characters to keep up with audio. Too many & it gets jumbled. Fast moving - I liked it.
The plot was great and caught me from the beginning.
Highly recommend.
"I recommend this book."
Very original story. Liked the protagonist. I enjoy historical fiction and this one is unlike any other. It doesn't go into too much detail of the politics of the times which is ok with me because I'm a big Henry VIII reader so I already knew all that.
It's originality.
"A classic so it requires patience"
I found myself looking at an online study guide for this book to explain what is going on. Once I got into it, it's fine but moves at a leisurely pace. It spends a long time on some subjects but the most important parts go by quickly so pay attention or cheat with a study guide.
Good but not great.
Love Wanda and I have heard her read other books.
