"An Excellent Book"
This book is well worth the time to listen and well worth the time to read as well.
By page 39 or part one section one Denis Johnson leaves the listener or reader with a wonderful Melville quote from Moby Dick.
I am currently relistening to the book and have marked each part and section of the audio to the book.
If this is not a high compliment and a five star book, I have nothing further to write.
"An Excellent Book"
This is a five star book and the reader I found to be very good.
I have listened to many books on cosmology and quantum mechanics and this book is a must ???listen??? and read book.
I have most of the books I listen to on this subject and this book without hesitation will be added to my library.
"Top Shelf"
Edna O?Brien has written a five star book. It is a book that sits next to James Joyce and Samuel Beckett on by book shelf, and it is one of my favorite audio books.
It is hard to understand how this wonderful book had received a one star review. Only those in Ireland who refused to publish Joyce?s Dubliners and those in the U.S. that attempted to prevent Joyce?s Ulysses from being published in America could be so harsh to such a treasure.
I highly recommend this audio format of Wild Decembers and the book in its written version.
"Three Nights in August"
This is a well written book whose knowledge of baseball is up to the task. The author Buzz Bissinger shows this in many ways; most importantly to me is the mention of Charley Lau who is one of baseball?s great teachers of hitting.
It did not hurt that the author makes a slight reference to Samuel Beckett?s Waiting for Godot, for I am also a Beckett reader.
