I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook as I love chick lit. I love hearing how the heroine thinks and the letters that are written back to her from others. Maybe it helps that I am not a shopaholic, so I find it very funny. I am certainly not a qualified critic of English literature, but I know what draws me in and keeps me entertained as I perform crafts such as sewing while I listen.
The way everything tends to work out for the heroine, despite her quirky way of thinking.
Definitely the British voice. I feel as if I am listening to a funny movie.
This is the kind of story where I listen to pass the time and keep listening because I want to hear the end, but the truth is, it's not grabbing me to listen more. Both I and my teenage daughter had some difficulty with understanding the scene and characters in the first third of the book. I did not find it to be entertaining.
My nine year old like this story so much that he stayed in the car after we arrived home just so he could listen to the rest of it.
I listened to this with my family in the car while vacationing. My 13 year old daughter especially liked it and her brothers tolerated it.
I listened to this book while driving my 15 year old to a youth conference. I picked it out for my 9 year old boy who accompanied us on the 4 hour drive. My 15 year old usually listens to his own music, but he had liked this story so much when he was younger, he decided to listen along with us and that is saying something. I enjoyed the story and am proud to say that a word I invented when I was a teenager is still used in my own community. It is a nickname for the local college.
It was interesting for everyone in the family, me and my children.o
Yes, but we listened over two long car trips.
No, I wasn't inclined to continue listening to this story. I eventually did while on a long car ride, but it didn't improve.
Something for my young teenagers
Interesting, thought provoking
I loved the main character and hearing how she managed to survive despite being separated from her parents at a young age.
Kept me interested.
This book needs to pick up the pace. I was not able to finish it despite two attempts. There is just too much extraneous information for me to stay interested.
Average, realistic accent
I was disappointed.
I have a hard time understanding Communist China culture.
Not my favorite book, but I was interested enough to finish it.
