"long live the cap'n and his beautiful steamboat!"
martin can really spin a yarn, and donachie's performance is spot on! the characters are flawed and beautifully realized, most of them walking right off the page. i will certainly listen to this audiobook again some day.
"scary, and it will make you think."
liked Snow Day quite a bit. "read" it in two sittings and will "read" it again. not only did it make this 40-year-old a little paranoid of his neighbors, but it made him wonder about his childhood and what might have been lurking there. as for the narrator's performance, at first i found it a little over-the- top but it quickly grew on me and i very much enjoyed it overall.
"Penny pulls it off again!"
hard to praise this book enough. Haunting, enthralling, richly detailed, complex. am sure i'll read it again and again, and i can't wait for Penny's next.
"Give Cain a Chance"
awesome. excellent writing and characters. don't let the cheesy title fool you. this ride is worth twice the price of admission.
"alden bell pulls it off!"
Reapers is well written and unique, thrilling and provocative. the characters are engaging and absolutely human. proof there is still some bite left in zombie fiction.
"sturgeon's horror masterpiece"
excellent story. truly haunting. I don't want to say too much because i don't want to give it away.
"bowles's best?"
really wanted to like this story, but it simply didn't work for me. i love a well-written tale of despair and this certainly fits the description, but i found myself waiting for it to end. if you like your fiction dark (I do) and value writing over story (I don't), this might work out better for you.
"the latest lansdale..."
...is worth a listen if you don't mind a little corn with your fiction. i minded, but lansdale's writing and a superb narrator kept my attention until the very end. will keep an eye out for lansdale's next.
"a better bentley..."
worth the price of admission. not one of bentley little's hits, but not exactly a miss either. i enjoyed the ride.
