"From Hero to Superhero"
This is no doubt a great listen and should be on everyones list interested in historical fiction. As another reviewer points out the narrator is doing a great job with different characters and accents. I actually thought this was the best narration I heard on any Audiobook (Bill Bryson does an excellent job as well but he writes different books altogether).
The one problem with the book I thought is that the Hero of the story in the end turns more into a superhero and succeeds in all his challenges with such an ease that you start thinking he is indestructible. His by fighters should have been given more strength or involvement in my opinion.
But I really enjoyed this well written and well read book!
"Great Book"
I'm a fan of 30 Rock and so it was a no brainer to listen to the Audio book. If you like Tina Fay's style of comedy or style you will not be disappointed with this book.
"More like a video game then a story"
Sorry, but this does not read (or sounds in this case) like a story. The book is more like a videogame:
1. Introductory Sequence
2. Some sort of action
3. Another explanatory Sequence
3. Some other form of action
and so on and on... I couldn't finish it.
Maybe I'm to spoiled after listening to The Bartimaeus Trilogy. Which has much more depth in my opinion.
Thanks,
Holger
"Fantastic!"
I enjoy listening to books from Audible since about 2001 or so - getting a new one whenever my credit is updated - and I have to say that each book of this trilogy represents the best books I listened to. I actually couldn't wait until my credit was renewed so I ended up buying the other two books as soon as I was done. Enjoy!!!
"boring - horrible female voice"
the story might be intersting but the readers are so unprofessional. especially the women is just painfull to listen to.
