When Napoleon Bonaparte died in exile in 1821, he took to the grave a powerful secret. As general and emperor, he had stolen immeasurable riches from palaces, national treasuries, and even the Knights of Malta and the Vatican. In his final days, his British captors hoped to learn where the loot lay hidden. But he told them nothing, and in his will he made no mention of the treasure. Or did he?

    Paul says: "Excellent novel"
    "Worst Narrative Work Ever"

This is the first time I have been completely driven from an Audible Book by the narrator. The "dripping tonal nuances" became just too much. I should have heeded the warnings of other readers.

In a heavily guarded mansion in a posh Virginia suburb, a man and a woman start to make love, trapping a burglar behind a secret wall. Then the passion turns deadly, and the witness is running into the night - because what he has just seen is a brutal slaying involving the president of the United States.

Would you try another book from David Baldacci and/or Scott Brick?

    Baldacci yes. Brick no!

What could David Baldacci have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

    Find another narrator.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator killed this book. I couldn't last 15 mins. His manufactured "sincere" tone drove me away.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment.
