"Amazing true story"
This is one of my favorites. Simon Prebble is an excellent narrator and this is an incredible story of survival and true determination. Shackleton's team achieved and endured the unimaginable for the time. Well worth a credit!
"Sacrifice of your money or credit!"
This was a waste! Ann Rule is an "okay" writer on one of my favorite genres. However, she is not (nor should she EVER be) a narrator!! I found this book reading almost incomprehensible. What a sacrifice!
"Seemingly Honest & Believeable"
Johnny Depp is obiviously a big fan, he sounds just like Keith! I enjoyed this book. I found it to be much more honest and believeable than Eric Clapton's. More interesting than Jimmy Hendrix and Kurt Cobains biographies. Keith has lived a lot longer than Hendrix and Cobain....so maybe that's not entirely fair. Well worth the credit!
"Jonathan Davis makes the book"
I have to agree with a lot of others who say the first half is especially slow. The second half is better but I only finished the book because the narration was absolutely superb. Had I been reading the written word I would have quit early on. I would have rated the book two stars if not for Jonathan Davis, who deserved five.
"Never a dull moment!"
Fast paced and really enthralling. Wambaugh draws you in and never lets go. I love his books. Wish more were available on audible. Very credit worthy!
"A great story gone bad"
Unfortunately I (unwisely) bought several books by this author at one time. Considering the subject and available information I thought this would be right up my alley. Sadly, I was wrong. The reader was okay but had no northeastern accent and the story lost a bit from that. I found the writing tedious and boring. I wish I had selected more carefully.
"One of Stephen's few mistakes"
I really forgot how bad this book is. I Love Stephen King but I must say this is THE worst book he has ever written. (Although I am not a fan of the "Dark Tower" series either...but George Guidall reads those and you can't get better than that!) It has some of the really great touches that all of King's writing has but... it really sucks! It's a lot of material for one credit but.... it's still not worth it! No disrespect to Stephen Weber as the Narrator.
"REALLY BAD NARRATOR"
This is a prime example of why you should ALWAYS listen before you buy! Has Jason Klav ever watched a cop show or anything about the FBI? I don't think so. He mispronounces Quantico as Quanteeco and modus operandi as modis operandy. VERY annoying since these words are oft repeated in a novel by an FBI profiler. I haven't even finished yet and I'm almost beyond what I can stand. John Douglas tells an interesting story but PLEASE hire someone who knows the pronounciation of words to read it!
"Excellent true crime!"
This is one of my favorites. I listened and then immediately listened again. I think at least one of the reviewers who rated this badly missed some key words such as "anomaly" when the author was describing traits of different 'erasers'. I listen constantly and to all genres. I found this book and reader to be excellent. Really a credit worthy read.
"Jeff Lindsay as Dexter?"
Don't get me wrong, Jeff Lindsay is a decent reader. Sometimes I REALLY like it when an author reads their work but Nick Landrum is the voice of Dexter if you have been following this series. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first three.
