  • The Wycherly Woman: A Lew Archer Novel

Phoebe Wycherly was missing two months before her wealthy father hired Archer to find her. That was plenty of time for a young girl who wanted to disappear to do so thoroughly—or for someone to make her disappear. And before he could locate the Wycherly girl, Archer had to reckon with the Wycherly woman, Phoebe’s mother, an eerily unmaternal blonde who kept too many residences, had too many secrets, and left too many corpses in her wake.

I never read Ross Macdonald before and this book leads me to believe that I probably will not read him again

In a decrepit and long-empty New York building, a man begins the demolition process by swinging a sledgehammer into a wall. When the dust clears, he finds two skeletons wrapped in plastic behind it. The man is Lieutenant Eve Dallas’s billionaire husband, Roarke, and he summons her immediately. His latest real estate project is going to be on hold for a while, because by the time Eve and her crew are finished searching the premises, there are 12 murders to be solved.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A decent story line and a narrator. This book was so bad that I just deleted it rather than suffer any longer

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Not J.D. Robb

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Susan Ericksen?

    No one

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Concealed in Death?

I would have cut out the entire book

    Any additional comments?

Probably the worst book I ever listened to.
