"Loved It"
I like Susan Elizabeth Phillips writing. It's pure escapism, I guess that is where I go when I listen to her books. They are worth the credit, and add to that, Anna Fields narration, it's a five star recording. The dialog is crack up fun!
"Absolutely Wonderful"
Story was good and enthralling! Tried to listen to it in one sitting but couldn't. I wanted to inhale it absorb it! It was my first exposure to Maya Banks and I am now a fan of Scottish tales, never having listened to or read one before. I am also now adding Kirsten Potter as one of my favorite narrators. I have 2 credits to spend...guess what I'm going to get?
"Do I really have to finish it to write a review?"
This was the first time I pre-ordered an audio. It was trust in Nora Roberts. I should have researched the narrator before the pre order. The narrator makes an audio book. I buy based on the idea that I will be able to listen to an audio book more than once. I can't even finish this audio one time. Sorry.
I just listened to The Witness, again. In the middle of Whiskey Beach I stopped and listened to the Witness, I needed a "good" fix of Nora Roberts. My next listen will be another Nora Roberts, I think I'll listen to Black Rose...again.
He was just wrong for this book. If it had to be a male voice...I think Dick HIll would have been great or Phil Gigante. The story diid not flow with his voice, I really didn't like his voice for her, so I didn't like her, and with all her talents, I should have. I just blanked out while it was playing and didn't feel inclined to rewind.
Disappointment, in the narrator. Pre ordering taught me a lesson. Don't do it unless you know the narrator and like them in the past.
Yes, unfortunately this will be my first return. I just can't finish it because I don't care about the main characters. I can't focus on this book, my mind wanders. Because it's a Nora Roberts, I think I'll buy the book and in my mind insert a Joyce Bean voice or maybe Susan Ericksen.
"Last 1/2 Hour, I'm making it last"
BUY THIS BOOK! It is wonderful. I gave it 5 stars after listening for 2 hours. Now I'm down to the last 1/2 hour. I have cleaned, gardened, knitted, cooked, scanned pictures to my computer, everything I could think of just to keep listening. The last time I was this wrapped up with a Nora Roberts book was with Black Rose, and as good as that was, this is better. Wow!Thank you! This book was so very well done!
Yes, I just kept churning.
Another review mentioned the similarities with the tv show Bones...Julia brought that to it with innocence.
The obvious of course, but what smacked me! was when she explained how she was going to bring them down. I loved that part! It really makes you think...the bad guys would have no way to retaliate.
It is one of my best spent credits!
"Jayne 5, Tanya 4, Tanya's male voice 1"
I really liked the book, but... I cringed every time I realized the male was speaking. The voice Eby used for the male was still very feminine. Maybe I'm not being fair, because I just got through listening to Natalie Ross in After the Night, now that was a very sexy male voice delivered by a female. The book was a good wrap up of this trilogy. Was worth the credit.
"OHHHH WOWWWWWW"
This is the sexiest, hottest book I've listened to in a long time. I keep looking around for my pirate! But, alas, I live alone.
Grey was soooo knowledgeable in so many areas, especially cleaning up messes and massages. Faith is another strong heroine like Daisy from Open Season. That was my first intro to Linda Howard, then I went to Cover of Night and haven't stopped yet, but didn't know about this one.
Wow. A wonderful surprise, wonderful treat, great listen, a well used credit and Natalie Ross was the deliverer. A definite replay....over and over again.
"Oh The Drama Of It All"
The book is very good but I can no longer stand another syllable from Flosnik. I bought this book months ago and just never could get into it because of her. As it is, I listened to the first half of part one and the last half of part two, that's all I could take. I think it is the.... pauses.... between.... each.... word.... Flosnik speaks for both characters, especially his. Yikes! Deep Drama. I will NOT be buying another book read by her. Actually I hesitated buying this one...with this reading she definately pushed me over the edge to be sure I don't do it again.
"Loved It!"
I've just started "getting into" the Arcane series. I'm enjoying them all, the past, present and Harmony. Just a pleasant enjoyable escape. Why do we have to "interpret" our reading. Gosh, if you want depth and knowledge, you are in the wrong section. Life is good, enjoy it! Escape is fun too!
"Felt Cheated"
I love and have most of Linda Howard's books/audio's, but this one is my first big disappointment. I regretted the loss of my credit. Was this her first book? I didn't expect sooooo much of the crime. I figured we'd get the crime for a couple of chapters and then the "getting to know each other again" for the rest of the story. No romance to speak of...maybe because it was so short? I just finished Kiss Me While I Sleep. Now, that was a 5 star audio.
"Taking too long to get through"
I LOVE Linda Howard's work. Dying to Please, Cover of Night, Open Season are my favorites so far, but this book is taking too long to get through. The narrator is okay, but Susan Erickson seems to have bonded with Linda Howard. I would have liked to have seen more involvement and depth to the characters, but this book is 11 years old, we all get better with time.
"2 am"
It's 2am and I have to get up at 7 to get ready for work. I just couldn't stop listening. The story was good, exciting, interesting with a what is next anticipation. And as a bonus the heroine was 39 years old! I'm so tired of the 28 year olds you find in most romance novels. I really enjoyed this listen, good writing and a good narrator.
