Jane Darlington is a genius at physics, but there's one problem she can't solve. She yearns for a child, but wants to spare it the pain of growing up as...well, a nerd. And surely any child of Jane's would be a little too brainy for the playground set. So she sets out to find a special man to father her child, someone without too much gray-matter between his ears: in short, a big, strong dope. Cal Bonner, legendary pro quarterback, seems to fit the bill. But there's something Dr. Jane hasn't counted on.

I like Susan Elizabeth Phillips writing. It's pure escapism, I guess that is where I go when I listen to her books. They are worth the credit, and add to that, Anna Fields narration, it's a five star recording. The dialog is crack up fun!

Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her "touched." Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn't speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty -unprepared for the delights to come.

Story was good and enthralling! Tried to listen to it in one sitting but couldn't. I wanted to inhale it absorb it! It was my first exposure to Maya Banks and I am now a fan of Scottish tales, never having listened to or read one before. I am also now adding Kirsten Potter as one of my favorite narrators. I have 2 credits to spend...guess what I'm going to get?

For more than 300 years, Bluff House has sat above Whiskey Beach, guarding its shore - and its secrets. But to Eli Landon, it’s home.… A Boston lawyer, Eli has weathered an intense year of public scrutiny and police investigations after being accused of - but never arrested for - the murder of his soon-to-be-ex wife. He finds sanctuary at Bluff House, even though his beloved grandmother is in Boston recuperating from a nasty fall. Abra Walsh is always there, though.

What would have made Whiskey Beach better?

This was the first time I pre-ordered an audio. It was trust in Nora Roberts. I should have researched the narrator before the pre order. The narrator makes an audio book. I buy based on the idea that I will be able to listen to an audio book more than once. I can't even finish this audio one time. Sorry.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I just listened to The Witness, again. In the middle of Whiskey Beach I stopped and listened to the Witness, I needed a "good" fix of Nora Roberts. My next listen will be another Nora Roberts, I think I'll listen to Black Rose...again.

What didn’t you like about Peter Berkrot’s performance?

He was just wrong for this book. If it had to be a male voice...I think Dick HIll would have been great or Phil Gigante. The story diid not flow with his voice, I really didn't like his voice for her, so I didn't like her, and with all her talents, I should have. I just blanked out while it was playing and didn't feel inclined to rewind.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment, in the narrator. Pre ordering taught me a lesson. Don't do it unless you know the narrator and like them in the past.

    Any additional comments?

Yes, unfortunately this will be my first return. I just can't finish it because I don't care about the main characters. I can't focus on this book, my mind wanders. Because it's a Nora Roberts, I think I'll buy the book and in my mind insert a Joyce Bean voice or maybe Susan Ericksen.

The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. A freelance programmer, she works at home designing sophisticated security systems.

Would you listen to The Witness again? Why?

BUY THIS BOOK! It is wonderful. I gave it 5 stars after listening for 2 hours. Now I'm down to the last 1/2 hour. I have cleaned, gardened, knitted, cooked, scanned pictures to my computer, everything I could think of just to keep listening. The last time I was this wrapped up with a Nora Roberts book was with Black Rose, and as good as that was, this is better. Wow!Thank you! This book was so very well done!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    Yes, I just kept churning.

What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Another review mentioned the similarities with the tv show Bones...Julia brought that to it with innocence.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The obvious of course, but what smacked me! was when she explained how she was going to bring them down. I loved that part! It really makes you think...the bad guys would have no way to retaliate.

    Any additional comments?

It is one of my best spent credits!

I really liked the book, but... I cringed every time I realized the male was speaking. The voice Eby used for the male was still very feminine. Maybe I'm not being fair, because I just got through listening to Natalie Ross in After the Night, now that was a very sexy male voice delivered by a female. The book was a good wrap up of this trilogy. Was worth the credit.

Faith is strong, proud, and fearless, and Gray – well, he’s just downright sexy. Faith’s search for the truth about the devastating scandal surrounding her mother and Gray’s father blazes with intrigue. Add some sultry Southern hear, and you’ve got a real scorcher of a listen." This is the sexiest, hottest book I've listened to in a long time. I keep looking around for my pirate! But, alas, I live alone.

Grey was soooo knowledgeable in so many areas, especially cleaning up messes and massages. Faith is another strong heroine like Daisy from Open Season. That was my first intro to Linda Howard, then I went to Cover of Night and haven't stopped yet, but didn't know about this one.

Wow. A wonderful surprise, wonderful treat, great listen, a well used credit and Natalie Ross was the deliverer. A definite replay....over and over again.

There was no doubt about it. What Miss Harriet Pomeroy needed was a man. Someone powerful and clever who could help her rout the unscrupulous thieves who were using her beloved caves to hide their loot. But when Harriet summoned Gideon Westbrook Viscount St. Justin to her aid, she could not know that she was summoning the devil himself.

The book is very good but I can no longer stand another syllable from Flosnik. I bought this book months ago and just never could get into it because of her. As it is, I listened to the first half of part one and the last half of part two, that's all I could take. I think it is the.... pauses.... between.... each.... word.... Flosnik speaks for both characters, especially his. Yikes! Deep Drama. I will NOT be buying another book read by her. Actually I hesitated buying this one...with this reading she definately pushed me over the edge to be sure I don't do it again.

Ex-cop Luther Malone, lifelong member of the secretive paranormal organization known as the Arcane Society, is waiting to meet Grace Renquist. Hired as an aura-reading consultant in the quest for a murder suspect, she's got zero field experience. She's from tiny Eclipse Bay, Oregon. She's a librarian, for heaven's sake.

As for Grace, she's not expecting much either from Malone, who walks with a cane and isn't so good with a gun. Nice resumé for a bodyguard.

'Tis the season for mistletoe and holly, Santa . . . and suspense. And the gift that keeps on giving is Ice: premier thriller author Linda Howard's breathless tale of a man, a woman, and a battle for survival against an unforgiving winter - and an unrelenting killer. Oh what fun it is to read.

I love and have most of Linda Howard's books/audio's, but this one is my first big disappointment. I regretted the loss of my credit. Was this her first book? I didn't expect sooooo much of the crime. I figured we'd get the crime for a couple of chapters and then the "getting to know each other again" for the rest of the story. No romance to speak of...maybe because it was so short? I just finished Kiss Me While I Sleep. Now, that was a 5 star audio.

I LOVE Linda Howard's work. Dying to Please, Cover of Night, Open Season are my favorites so far, but this book is taking too long to get through. The narrator is okay, but Susan Erickson seems to have bonded with Linda Howard. I would have liked to have seen more involvement and depth to the characters, but this book is 11 years old, we all get better with time.

And as a bonus the heroine was 39 years old! I'm so tired of the 28 year olds you find in most romance novels. I really enjoyed this listen, good writing and a good narrator.
