I do my gardening listening to Audible books and, at times, end up sitting on my gardening cart sobbing away, while hoping no one's looking

In The Keeper of Lost Causes, Jussi Adler-Olsen introduced Detective Carl Mørck, a deeply flawed, brilliant detective newly assigned to run Department Q, the home of Copenhagen’s coldest cases. The result wasn’t what Mørck - or readers - expected, but by the opening of Adler-Olsen’s shocking, fast-paced follow-up, Mørck is satisfied with the notion of picking up long-cold leads. So he’s naturally intrigued when a closed case lands on his desk: A brother and sister were brutally murdered two decades earlier....

What happen to Erik Davies as the voice of Karl Merck? He had the cadence of a Scandinavian. Steven Pacey made the characters sound like what one would expect if the novel had been set in London.

I enjoy Karl and his entourage and look forward to many more stories but with Danish characters.

The performance is so-o-o boring I can't stand to keep listening. I don't know if story is dragging or if it's the narrator. Where's Ron or Scott?

After a near-fatal head injury, Navy SEAL lieutenant Tom Paoletti catches a terrifying glimpse of an international terrorist in his New England hometown. When he calls for help, the Navy dismisses the danger as injury-induced imaginings. In a desperate effort to prevent disaster, Tom creates his own makeshift counterterrorist team, assembling his most loyal officers, two elderly war veterans, a couple of misfit teenagers, and Dr. Kelly Ashton - the sweet girl next door who has grown into a remarkable woman.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Take out all the boring 'longing' passages. Things were repeated too many times.

What did you like best about this story?

    Great plot!

What about William Dufris’s performance did you like?

I always knew who was talking and/or thinking.

Do you think The Unsung Hero needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    Maybe

The California Department of Corrections needs someone to infiltrate another gang, one that’s taking control of the state’s most notorious supermax. Virgil’s the perfect candidate, and he’ll agree to do it under an alias - in exchange for his sister’s protection.

    What disappointed you about Inside?

I should have looked at the cover then I would have realized it was a romance, not a thriller or mystery. The author spent much to much time on the sexual tension rather than the plot.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Black Ops

What aspect of Angela Dawe’s performance would you have changed?

She did a fine job of narrating.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Yuck!
