Throughout the course of his ordeal battling esophageal cancer, Christopher Hitchens adamantly and bravely refused the solace of religion, preferring to confront death with both eyes open. In this riveting account of his affliction, Hitchens poignantly describes the torments of illness, discusses its taboos, and explores how disease transforms experience and changes our relationship to the world around us. By turns personal and philosophical, Hitchens embraces the full panoply of human emotions as cancer invades his body and compels him to grapple with the enigma of death.

Would you listen to Mortality again? Why?

Yes. Well written, expresses the reality of the battle of the human spirit when faced with its mortality, specifically cancer.

What did you like best about this story?

Very factual and real. I could feel his pain and his anguish.

What about Simon Prebble’s performance did you like?

Very well done, cognicent of the late writer himself.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The afterward by Christopher's wife.. very difficult not to break down with her. My heart goes out to her.

    Any additional comments?

I am in the medical field and was moved and enlightened by Christopher's ability to express and describe his emotions and consequences. He is a huge loss to talent.

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Charlaine Harris has won numerous awards for her Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series, which has been adapted into the hit HBO show True Blood. In this 13th and final book, a murder rocks the town of Bon Temps and Sookie is arrested for the crime. After making bail, she sets out to clear her name - but her investigation only leads to more deaths.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I expected more. I found this a bland book, esp. for what may likely be considered the last book in the series (Book 12). I wanted more action and a thicker plot. Instead, I found events to be predictable and boring. The person Sookie ends up with was obvious, and I found it difficult to get through the book to finally get there. I found this to be one of her weaker books.

If you’ve listened to books by Charlaine Harris before, how does this one compare?

The same. Very good reader. She is an excellent narrator.

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sookie's southern charm and lots of great emotion.

Did Dead Ever After inspire you to do anything?

    No...

    Any additional comments?

Disappointing, I wanted more action and interactions between characters. There were not many exciting ones and I found this to be bland and predictable.

High up with the best. Great story and great narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vlad: cunning, powerful, clever, and very funny.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Spoiler alert: Too many. When he finally tells her that he loves her and when he has to turn her were up there with the best. Yet so many phenomenal scenes!!!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Loved it!!! Better than Once Burned and that was an amazing book. I did not cry.. but I am so happy at the turn of events. Lots of funny moments! I could not stop until I got through the whole story!

With stories, examples, and vibrant activities for the reader to practice, this book shows any manager - new or seasoned - how to coach and mentor employees rather than hover over their shoulders and goad them into action. • The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty: The First of the Classic Erotic Trilogy of Sleeping Beauty

In the traditional folktale of Sleeping Beauty, the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire.

What disappointed you about The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty?

This is hard core sadomasochism to the ultimate level of humiliation and illness. I found the characters pathetic. The author has some serious psychological issues manifested through a pathological case of this piece of literature. Truly disgusting. I cannot believe this is Anne Rice. This is NOTHING like what she is known for, nor in content or any good.

Has The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty turned you off from other books in this genre?

I chose to read this book as I had read the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and was not impressed. I did not understand all the hype. Is America that prudish? I was told this ('...Sleeping Beauty') was the book to read by an individual that was not crazy about this book yet wanted my opinion in comparison to Fifty Shades of Grey.. I have read JR Ward, Karen Marie Moning, Jeanine Frost, Linda K Hamilton, Thea Harrison, etc. ... authors that are amazing at adult romance (some paranormal romance) which is considered very adult and hardcore. I could not put down any of these authors' books and highly recommend them to all my friends. I thought that Fifty Shades of Grey was benign and boring... and very poorly written. This book, though, beats out Fifty Shades of Grey for bad content. Therefore, I will go back to the authors I know and those recommended and considered very good by many.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

It was mediocre... very hard to make a great performance out of bad content.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sadly, no... unless you are into merciless Hard core S and M and/or Bondage.

    Any additional comments?

Not worth it... I had to force myself to get through it.
