This is the second book I've listened to of Lois Lowry's. It's actually a continuation of her book, The Giver, which I've listened to again and again with great pleasure. Lowry's character development is wonderful and her vivid language effortlessly transports me into the world she has created while I work on my artwork. Also, the narrators for both books sound just right, and I'm very particular about narrators!
I would not recommend this audio book because the narrator is quite distracting. The story itself might be okay, but I'd have to read the print book without the voice in order to know.
The narrator's regular voice is pleasant, but several of her other character voices are so grating (e.g., high nasal, low creepy) that they greatly detracted from the story.
One of my favorite audiobooks. I've listened to it many times.
This audiobook was a delight to listen to. The story pulled me right in and made me want to find out what happens next while at the same time, not wanting the story to end. Both narrators are fabulous. I've already listened to this story more than once and am still not tired of it.
