  • Mortal Prey

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 15 mins)
    • By John Sandford
    • Narrated By Richard Ferrone
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Years ago, Lucas Davenport almost died at the hands of Clara Rinker, a pleasant, soft-spoken, low-key Southerner, and the best hitwoman in the business. Now retired and living in Mexico, she nearly dies herself when a sniper kills her boyfriend, the son of a local druglord, and while the boy's father vows vengeance, Rinker knows something he doesn't: The boy wasn't the target, she was, and now she is going to have to disappear to find the killer herself.

    "Good listen"

This was only my third audio book and I liked it very much.
I liked it enough to read another of his books to see if it read as well as it sounded. And it did.
The readers voice was good and the characters developed well I felt. After a short time into the story I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. Perfect action/mystery/thriller to make a car trip fly by.

  • The Bloomsday Dead

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs)
    • By Adrian McKinty
    • Narrated By Gerard Doyle
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Michael Forsythe is contacted by his former lover, Bridget, a New York Irish Mob boss, whose fiancé he killed. Bridget, calling from Dublin, says that her 11-year-old daughter has been kidnapped. Michael's choice is to fly to Dublin and help her find the girl, or be executed at the hands of Bridget's goons, who are holding him at gunpoint. He agrees to nothing, but is soon on the way to Dublin, leaving the first two of many dead bodies in his wake.

Johnnie Walker says: "SIX STARS ******"
    "Another goodie!"

This is my third book listened to by McKinty. Great story and even better reader. Michael has evolved into a great character and really does fascinate me. I like two of these so much that I relistened to them again right after I finished the first listen.
Can't wait for the next one. McKinty has become my favorite autor to listen to and the reader Doyle is simply terrific.

  • Who's Your Caddy: Looping for the Great, Near Great, and Reprobates of Golf

    • ABRIDGED (5 hrs and 16 mins)
    • By Rick Reilly
    • Narrated By Grover Gardner

The funniest and most popular sportswriter in America abandons his desk at Sports Illustrated to caddy for some of the world's most famous golfers, and some celebrity duffers, recounting it all in this hilarious and revealing look at the world of golf.

    Michael says: "HILLARIOUS!!"
    "Loved it!"

Great read of fascinating stories about golf and some interesting people. Helps if you are interested in golf but would be a fun listen for anyone.
Reader has great voice and very entertaining rhythm. Reilly is a very clever writer. I just might start getting Sports Illustrated because of him.

  • The Golden Cup

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By Belva Plain
    • Narrated By Kate Harper

At 19, Hennie De Rivera's dreams have no place for the suitable marriage her parents plan for her. Instead, her thoughts are all of the young radical scientist Daniel Roth and their plans to change the world. But their stormy, passionate marriage will bring them into conflict not only with the establishment world of Hennie's prosperous family but all too often with each other.

Bill says: "Belva at her best"
    "Belva at her best"

This was Belva Plain at her best. I love most of her stuff and this was no exception. Wonderful character development and warm tales of their lives through many of life's challanges. Good voice of reader and hated to see it end. Can't wait for next one.

  • Ireland

    • UNABRIDGED (19 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Frank Delaney
    • Narrated By Frank Delaney
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

One evening in 1951, an itinerant storyteller arrives unannounced at a house in the Irish countryside. In exchange for a bed and a warm meal, he invites his hosts and their neighbors to join him by the wintry fireside, and begins to tell formative stories of Ireland's history. Ronan, a 9-year-old boy, grows so entranced by the storytelling that, when the old man leaves abruptly under mysterious circumstances, the boy devotes himself to finding him again.

    S. Marie says: "A wonderfully read history of Ireland"
    "Loved it!!"

I am heading to Ireland next month and wanted something to get me in the mood. This was perfect. Wonderful warm story and great way to tell some of Ireland's history. The writer/reader was simply charming to listen to. Hated to have it end and bought the book to see how it reads compared to how it was read. Hope it is half as good in print. The book is poetic in its choice of words.

  • Executive Briefing: The Power of Persuasion

    • NONE (54 mins)
    • By Dr. Robert Cialdini

Cialdini provides fascinating insight into how people avoid the work of making decisions and why they comply with requests in business settings. He has identified six principles which are so powerful that they generate desirable change in the widest range of circumstances.

Kathleen says: "Top EXPERT on Persuasion"
    "Well worth the listen"

This is one of my first Audible experiences and I loved it!
The speaker/writer is very well spoken and easy to listen to as well as entertaining and informative.
The context of the talk is very helpful to anyone who interacts with other humans. One of those things in life that you are simply glad to have found and enjoyed and learned from.
I would recommend it all those who would like to understand and improve their interactive skills.
