From the moment he beds Desi, Caine knows turmoil will follow. Desi might have the face of a temptress, but she also has a will of iron, and while she needs his protection, she's determined that no man will control her again. They establish an uneasy bond, but it isn't enough for Caine. He wants all Desi has to offer. He wants her screams, her moans, her demands...everything. Yet there's still a bounty on Desi's head, and keeping her sexually satisfied is proving easier than keeping her alive.

This was a pretty good book. Western...tormented woman meets good looking texas ranger. The story is pretty well developed with a good introduction to the other characters of Hell's 8. Hot sex scenes as well. Weird fascination that the author has with the lead male's thumbs. Pay attention and you'll catch it all over the place. Every love scene mentions his thumb. This even happens in Sam's Creed (next book). Worth the money.

"While I am indeed of lowly rank, I am also a young woman who allowed herself to sample life's greatest pleasures in the hands of these titled men. My tales overflow in this journal, penning my journey to becoming a woman of power of the most base, yet stimulating, breed."

I was really surprised at the depth of feeling, humor, and steaminess of this book. I read a lot of classic fiction and there were parts of this book that so reminded me of my favorites, Jane Eyre (the beginning) and Pride & Prejudice (relationship between the heroine & Mr Coven), etc. Only you get the benefit of seeing what may or may not have happened behind closed doors if the authors had been born in a time when you could be so bold as to describe it. It was sad and romantic and I laughed outloud a few times. It's a diary so there isn't always continuity but that is part of the charm. The narrator isnt dull. She does a great job with the diff voices and accents and gets really involved and enthusiastic during the love scenes. I was worried to buy this because of some of the reviews on audible but saw great reviews at Amazon. This was well worth it. It had a great ending and it will touch the romantic in you.

Known for making up his own rules of right and wrong, Texas Ranger Sam "Wildcard" MacGregor takes what he wants when he wants it, especially when it comes to women. But seduction is the last thing on his mind the moment he stumbles across an Hispanic beauty crouching in fear beside a burned-out wagon.

This def wasnt as good as the 1st book...just like the other reviews said. The narrator's version of Isabella is off putting at first as well as the beginning of the story itself. Almost like he doesnt understand inflection and when to stress which words. It does get better during the middle of the story and then falters a bit at the end. Worth listening to to keep the story going although there is almost no mention of the rest of hells 8. Not much plot to the story compared to the 1st book. I wasnt dissapointed though because i had read other's reviews first. Just like the 1st nook...the author seems to be fascinated with men's thumbs in the love scenes as if there are no other fingers?? Weird but ok story.
