    • By Mary Connealy
    • Narrated By Sherri Berger
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Rafe Kincaid controls everything in his life... until he meets Julia. Julia Gilliland has always been interested in the natural world around her. She particularly enjoys studying the fossils and formations in the magnificent cave near her father’s house. The cave seems plenty safe—until the day a mysterious intruder steals the rope she uses to climb out. Rafe Kincaid is a man used to being in control—of himself, his brothers, and his family’s ranch.

    "romantic historical"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Not really. I did not care for the voice and it was not formatted correctly. The narrator would say Chapter 15 but it was reading on my device as chapter 23. Things like that.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Out of Control?

I liked the history about the cave.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Baby voice for females who were strong characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Beginning was exciting.

  • How a Star Falls

    • UNABRIDGED (1 hr and 55 mins)
    • By Amber Stokes
    • Narrated By Patrick Wilson Mahaney

Derrick Knolane escapes to Trinidad Head most evenings, avoiding his apartment and planning for the day he'll break free of Humboldt County. Working in a music store might be fine for a while, but it's far from the goal he had in mind when he got his college degree. Not to mention the fact that his roommate is a jerk and his family won't stop trying to run his life. Then Brielle falls into his world. She claims to be a star. Not from Hollywood, but from heaven.

    Sandra Leesmith says: "Charming Romance"
    "Charming Romance"
If you could sum up How a Star Falls in three words, what would they be?

    Sweet contemporary romance

What was one of the most memorable moments of How a Star Falls?

When Derrick discovers Brielle and she explains that she is a fallen star. I love how she says she is from Orion's belt, especially when we know that Orion's belt has special meaning in Derrick's life.

Which character – as performed by Patrick Wilson Mahaney – was your favorite?

The narration is a male voice, but I loved how he portrayed Brielle. Amber wrote her character so well, that she really came across in Patrick's narration.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Its like a Hallmark movie.

    Any additional comments?

This was a charming portrayal of dreams and goals and how sometimes they don't always live up to our expectations. I also enjoyed the setting as Humboldt County is one of my favorite places. I could picture Trinidad Head and the town setting. The author did a great job.

  • Chasing the Lion: Sword of Redemption, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Nancy Kimball
    • Narrated By Joseph Narducci

From the blood-soaked sand of the Roman arena, a divine destiny will rise. For as long as Jonathan Tarquinius can remember, everyone has wanted something from him. His half-brother wants him dead. His master's wife wants his innocence. The gladiator dealers want him to fight - and die - for their greed. Rome's most famous prostitute wants his love. And the gentle slave girl who tends the wounds on his body and the hidden ones on his soul, longs for him to return to his faith.

Patrick says: "A great story with a spectacular reader"
"Gripping portrayal of the Early Christians"
What did you love best about Chasing the Lion?

I loved Nancy's knowledge and portrayal of Roman culture during the first century AD. She did a terrific job of bringing to life the horror and plight of the gladiators and early Christians. How they survived that and still remained faithful to God is a testimony in itself.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the romance between the hero and heroine. It comes late in the story so I won't mention names. The long wait was the only trying issue for me. Poor Jonathan never caught a break until the romance started.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The romantic scenes were definitely my favorite, but then again I'm a lover of romance novels.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, the whole time period and life of a gladiator was brought to life by Ms Gimball. It was a difficult book to set aside so consequently I didn't get all my chores done while listening to it. Her portrayal of the times was gripping and quite impressive.

    Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book for an exciting and gripping experience of the life of a gladiator in first century Rome. But be aware that Ms. Gimball doesn't hold back on describing the violence of that era. I really liked Joseph's portrayal of Jonathan. His narration for the male characters was excellent.
