"Marianne's attempt to go mainstream"
Yes, I love Marianne, just not this book.
Good information based on common sense, human psychology, conditioning, behaviors and subconscious thoughts and beliefs, but it was really not strong on the ACIM principles. But then it would be hard to write a book about Weight Loss from A Course perspective as the Course will tell you that your body is an illusion. If your body isn't real, then neither is your fat, end of story....LOL...Only a serious course student could appreciate that. Obviously Marianne neeed her book to have more appeal to the masses.
I feel like Marianne wanted to appeal to the mainstream and it was a bit of a fail. If you have never read or studied ACIM you may like this audio better, but don't be mislead to think it is based much on ACIM at all.
"DON'T BE FOOLED! THIS IS NOT THE BOOK!"
I recently found a copy of this book in a used bookstore and loved it! In the past I have never been a Dyer fan. I appreciate his teachings, but generally found them to be based on foundational truths, very simple and rather basic truths. I generally prefer something mind blowing, very deep and thought provoking, such as A Course In Miracles. But I was impressed with this particular book and it inspired and spoke to me. In fact, I found so much comfort and wisdom in it that I decided to purchase what I THOUGHT was the audiobook here on Audible, to take on a road trip and share with my daughter and sister.
Imagine my surprise to learn that this format is NOT the book at all! It is a live talk he gave prior too the release of the book. I do say that the talk is very good. But I have requested a refund for the first time in my 3 year membership because I received something quite different from what it is presented to be.
It is NOT an audio book. It is a talk and not what I had thought I purchased.
It is enjoyable and worthwhile, but for me it was like getting carrot cake when I wanted angel food. It is still good, but not what the menu suggested and I had my taste buds set for something different.
"For Younger Crowd, I guess"
Something about Garbrielle doesn't feel right for me. I just don't resonate. Do think she would have great appeal for newbie Course members or in the ages of 20-30 . Author did a good job, it just didn't strike me personally. But then, I am quite used to anything having to do with ACIM blowing my MIND and traveling incredible depths of thought, mystery and spritiual principles. I am used to ACIM being like NOTHING else. This audio fell short for me, but I had SUPER high expectations too.
Nice introudction material for a new student or a younger listener.
"If you loved the Secret"
I am sure a lot of Secret fans will just love this book. It didn't do it for me and didn't inspire me. Not bad, will appeal to many folks, but not my bag and I am burnt out on the topic, and nothing really new in here. I thought The Secret was overated too. Just me :)
"Excellent, but better as a book..."
I LOVE the information in here, only problem is she did not include a PDF and if you really want to work the teachings in this book you need the chart and graphs she refers too. I eneded up frustrated because I wanted to get maximum benefit from the fabulous information in this book but was limited without the visual aids. It is VERY good, even just to listen too, and interesting but wish she had of included a PDF. :(
"Loved it. Inspriing"
I didn't read the print version, dont know that this is true.
His voice matches the enthusiasm of his words.
Appreciate each moment, even if it sucks, it could be a great story some day. lol
I really liked this. I was very inspired by it. If you are interested in creating your own products or internet marketing or motivational speaking or utilizing your story and experience, you will like this.
"I don't know why, I have a hard time with this"
I know that the this is a classic and I love the story, but I can't stay interested in it in audio format.
I don't think I liked the narration. His voice is wonderful, but too calm and soothing. I am soon daydreaming or drifting off.
Yes, sleep.
Read the book. This is a great story and very inspirational to read.
"I HATE RUNNING and I loved this! So Enjoyable!"
I loved that the story draws from so many avenues and fascinating facts, from cultures, ancient communities, modern times, personalities, the physical body, the mind, and incredible human feats.
It is about much more than running or the technical aspects of ultra's. It is about the human spirit. I would never get into a ring and box either, but I sure respect the determination and training it takes to be good at it.
It is just GREAT listen, even if you hate running and could care not less about it!!!
The ending, of course, what is found to be at the crux of it all.
EXCELLENT. Very nice narration. Easy to listen too.
There were so many! I found the tribe interesting as I never knew they existed, and the history of the ultra.
I read the reviews becasue I was undecided on this one for some time. Finally got it and am glad I did. Just do it :)
"Love it! Laughed,Cried and Shared it with my girls"
I would, and have, recommended it to my friends (girls) because, even if you aren't overwieght, if you live in this society you have most likely taken on some negative body images as society fixates and perpetuates the "perfect" womanly form of super thin. As if being 5'11" and 120 pounds is the only standard of acceptable beauty there is.
Teasi boldy shares her life, her insecurities, and her pain, but she does it with humor and grace. You will find yourself laughing at times, and other times in tears for the places along her journey that were sad, if not downright horrific. Yet, she has no tone of self pity. She has a humor and a confidence of a conqueror.
There are so many. Two stand out. One when she asked for God's healing and she felt Him walk with her into her past, to the age of 7 years old, when her Uncle bound, gagged and raped her. Memorable because of the BEAUTIFUL way that God turns this memory around and affirms how much Teasai is loved, adored and how precious she is, and always has been, and that God/Jesus NEVER left her side, not even in that darkest of moments. A tear jerker, if not outright sobs! :) But it really is A FEEL GOOD STORY.
The second one was when Teasai's husband were vacationing and staying in a motel, he asked her to join him down at the pool one evening. At first she declined, but the second night he practically begged her to join him, so she trudged into the bathroom to put on her "humiliation" suit....hilarity ensues and she describes the process of getting that tight, stretchy, clingy, spandex up her body and over her hips, tugging and pullying, hips gyrating....If you have ever HATED bathing suit season, you will laugh yourself silly.
I LOVED Pam's performance!! She has great tone, influx, and was totally believable! One of the BEST performances EVER. Pam Ward was amazing and her performance added a lot to my listening pleasure and enjoyment.
We are so precious, so loved, regardless of our size. Quit believing Satan's lies.Lighten up, and know you ARE Beautiful because God made you so!!!
This audiobook is a real blessing. I have listened to it several times now and shared it with 3 friends, who also loved it.
"I Was Mislead, Be Certain You Understand"
Not unless they were SERIOUSLY into meditation.
I believed this book was about Enlightenment, but 6 hours into it, I realize it is about MEDITATION, which to me, is one path to enlightenment and not one that totally interests me at this point. So, I got bored with it.
I was hoping this was so much more. I was really dissapointed the topic was so narrow.
Nothing is bad about the audio book, it just isn't what I had expected. It should have been called
