    The Thorn Birds is a robust, romantic saga of a singular family, the Clearys.     While I enjoyed the story and didn't particularly mind the narration - it was sufficiently lively to keep me engaged consistently - as an Australian, I find the pronunciation of many Australian words disappointing. Surely the narrators should check on the correct pronunciation of any words they are unsure about? Words such as echidna, galah, and emu are all mispronounced and I find this detracts from the story and the otherwise good narration.
