At once a Gothic thriller, a passionate romance, and a cautionary tale about the dangers of science, Frankenstein tells the story of committed science student Victor Frankenstein. Obsessed with discovering "the cause of generation and life" and "bestowing animation upon lifeless matter", Frankenstein assembles a human being from stolen body parts. However, upon bringing it to life, he recoils in horror at the creature's hideousness.

People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Maybe I'm just a fan of Susan Bennett's narration but I did not find this book entertaining in the least. The story was cute and I laughed out loud maybe once. I found myself daydreaming about other things, not paying attention to the audiobook, and not caring about rewinding and replaying the parts I missed. I'm a huge fan of Moore but I don't think I would pay for the sequel to this book if/when it comes out.

Now, picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night plunges Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont into Elizabethan London, a world of spies, subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the mysterious School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh. Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of Ashmole 782 deepens. Deborah Harkness has crafted a gripping journey through a world of alchemy, time travel, and magical discoveries.

It's a great listen! Narrator does an awesome job, each character is unique! The plot is a mystery within a mystery, which makes the story so intriguing. There are a lot of characters and clues you have to really pay attention to but each significant on their own. This one I could not stop listening to! I can't wait for the third installment!

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

Harkness does a great job of developing the plot line as well as the characters. My favorite part of this book is it's set up for book 2. Everything is connected so well and theres a mystery within a mystery, making you want to keep listening. Ikeda does a great job narrating as well, each character was so unique!

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

Being dead sucks. Make that being undead sucks. Literally. Just ask Thomas C. Flood. Waking up after a fantastic night unlike anything he's ever experienced, he discovers that his girlfriend, Jody, the woman of his dreams, is a vampire. And surprise! Now he's one, too.

I can't say enough good things about Moore's writing and Susan Bennet's narration. They both do such a great job with the characters and make the book worth the time and money you spend on them. The plot is the best of the 3 books and this is where "Abbey" is introduced, making it my personal favorite.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

I hate to see this book ripped apart in its reviews. First of all, the narrators do a great job. Julia Whelan is such an awesome story teller! Secondly, it's on the NY Times bestselling list for a reason. A book is suppose to make you feel for the characters and this book is no exception. If you find yourself only enjoying the first 3/4 of the book than you're too into the "Hollywood ending." Lastly, this book is witty, creative, and cleverly written. Not your typical Hollywood ending, but is that so bad? I think it's definitely worth a listen!

I think this book is cleverly written and creatively read. Susan Bennet does an awesome job giving the characters personality as well as making you laugh with her unique voices. I think a narrator makes or breaks the enjoyment of an audiobook and this one definitely makes it enjoyable!

Yes, the vampire craze has been worn out but this book is worth the read. It's a cute little love story wrapped in young, sarcastic, vampire humor. It's not elaborate like Discovery of Witches or dull and unsubstantial like Twilight but a good halfway point. Worth a credit!

You've either done it or know someone who has: the one-night stand, the familiar outcome of a night spent at a bar, sometimes the sole payoff for your friend's irritating wedding, or the only relief from a disastrous vacation. Often embarrassing and uncomfortable, occasionally outlandish, but most times just a necessary and irresistible evil, the one-night stand is a social rite as old as sex itself and as common as a bar stool.

We all know a narrator makes the story... and this one made a funny book slow and boring. Handler should've definitely handled this one. Instead, funny situations and dialogue were made dull.
