This is a typical Jackie Collins novel. And if you love Jackie's books and more to the point, Lucky Santangelo, you will enjoy this book. My only complaint is that Jackie decided to do the voice of Lucky herself...big mistake. Lucky is supposed to be Italian. Jackie's English accent doesn't fit the character at all.
This book is exciting from beginning to end!! I found myself taking the long way home because I didn't want to stop listening. What a riveting new character!
I think I would compare it to the David Baldacci series with the "Shaw" character or the Mitch Rapp books. The badazz hit man that you root for.
Too many to name just one and as I write this review I'm not even finished the book. But so far my favorite is the scene where the guys came to his "hideaway" to kill him and he blew the place up. Awesome!
I think the famous Omar quote from "The Wire" sums it up perfectly: "If you come at the King, you best not miss"
This author is up there with the greats: James Patterson, John Sanford, Vince Flynn. I can't say enough good things about this book. And let's not forget Jay Snyder. He was PHENOMENAL. I enjoyed every word that came out of his mouth. Not since Frank Mueller have I been this impressed with a narrator.
I don't read print versions anymore so I can't say
Absolutely!! I'm a new David Baldacci fan!
I am IN LOVE with Ron McLarty. He is one of the BEST readers I've heard recently. I would love for him to narrate every book I listen to. He was simply perfection
When love is gone...all that's left is revenge
Outstanding book. I can't wait to start a David Baldacci series
The narrator's voice got on my nerves
His inflections didn't work. His voice is just hard to listen to for a long time
Go back to my mysteries. This book was WAY too long.
Steve Jobs is a jerk. I know lots of geniuses are but...ugh. I'm really not an Apple fanatic. My sister works there and bullies me into buying apple products. I like my Ipad for travel but all in all I think Apple products are overpriced and overhyped. All this book did was solidify that opinion. I'm 2/3 through the book and I keep waiting for ANYTHING to like about this man.
I think it could have been a good story. I thought that was one of the worst narrators I've ever heard.
Change the narrator
No. It was hours of my life I'll never get back
I think the writer wrote a good story. Unfortunately, audio books depend every bit on the narrator as the story. I seriously couldn't wait for this book to be over.
I can't begin to tell you how much I miss Frank Muller. This man brings a story to life like nobody before or since. I would give him 10 stars if I could. And Grisham, well, we all know he's the master. The Testament is one of my favorites by him. The way this story unfolds is nothing short of genius. It starts with a bang and doesn't let up. I was riveted from beginning to end wondering how this whole thing would turn out. This is my third time listening to it. It's THAT GOOD.
This is my first book by Rose Conners and I am impressed. The story was compelling, Bernadette Dunne did a great job. I just loved it. Well worth the listen!!!
Rachel Maddow is pure genius. As some have said, she is the Walter Cronkite of our time. She's so thorough in her research and manages to make issues that I never cared about before not just intriguing but downright fascinating. I'm ashamed to say I don't really know my political history very well so this was a huge lesson for me. And nobody does it better than Rachel. This is why I watch her show because though she clearly has a point of view (and I don't necessarily always agree with her), she is honest and fair and always works to ensure her facts are in order. I loved this book!! I'm going to listen to it a second time. I'm sure I missed some stuff. And I'm glad she narrated it herself. She is just a joy to listen to. Go Rachel!
This is my first Sydney Bauer book. The story was very good but I just couldn't get past the guy reading it to truly enjoy it. He sounded like he was reading Shakespeare throughout the entire book rather than a suspense. I'm so frustrated when I can't stand listening to a book simply because of the voice because it seems that this author uses this person a lot and I really would like to get another but I just can't. I miss Frank Mueller so much....
