An excellent book. I'd like to recommend Col. Bracevich be appointed as the next Secretary of Defense upon Robert Gates' retirement. He'll need a whip and a chair (and possibly a few good funerals) to get the job done, but we'd all be better off for it.

The never-ending similes and metaphors in Burke's writing had me listening more for the next laughable description rather than paying attention to the plot. Take "like" and "as" out of his vocabulary and nothing's there.

The reader needs to stick to reading Robichaux and stay the hell out of Texas. His mispronunciations were grating and glaring to anyone vaguely familiar with the story's setting and his accents so stereotypical that they were insulting.

Listening to this just made me tired. I finished it only because I make it a point to try and finish all books I start.

Double awful is more like it. It seems to be written for short attentions spans with 125 chapters and an epilogue in just over 8 hours. The "erotic" scenes are more like the imaginations of an adolescent boy and add nothing to the lame plot line. To make it worse, the readers are overly dramatic and their imitated accents are amateurish.

Don't waste your time!
