I remember reading this book as a kid and some how I did not see all the prejudice themes in the book. Now some 40 years later I see the good and evil in the book by I'm left wondering why Lewis could not have been less stereotyping in the characters. (Dark skin versus light skin) Lewis gets 2 stars for this book (not that he cares now)
However, I would give the narrator 4 stars. He was ever engaging even when the story would make me mad for stereotyping.
The book was very good. It was a unique view of the story of Oz. The ending left me wanting more. (there are two more books) My only real complaint is that it seems to say the was only bad because everyone picked on her and she was an outsider. I think she liked being the odd one.
I wish you could half star as I would give it 3.4 stars. (I round down not up hence 3 Stars)
I like the book and listen to the end however it was a chore as the narrator was very dry!
So 4 stars book - 2 stars narrator!
