1497, Renaissance Rome: As the teenage daughter of Pope Alexander VI, Lucrezia Borgia is a young noblewoman immersed in all the glamor of the Vatican Palace. Yet after a brutal killing shocks the city, Lucrezia learns that a dark truth lies beneath the surface of the Papal Court - in their ruthless quest for power, her father and brother are willing to poison their enemies. After discovering that her new husband is next to die, Lucrezia struggles to help him escape from Rome before the assassins strike.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I stopped halfway through this book as I kept losing interest. It is quite simply boring. The characters are unsympathic, there is no real tension and any excitement of the time or history is lost in the ramblings of Lucretia's emotional waffling between love for her Borgia Family and disgust at their horrible acts. This is not worth the $$ and was very disappointing.

Would you ever listen to anything by M. G. Scarsbrook again?

    No

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The performance was good, not great. Easy to follow.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    None really, sorry to say.

    Any additional comments?

Historical fiction can often be redeemed by the place the characters have in the history of their times and all of these characters appear heinous and without merit. No true information about clothing, the architecture or Rome. Nothing about the food, the action is mostly in Lucretia's head and in this read that is a very dull place indeed.

Since 1990, when Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time® burst on the world with its first book, The Eye of the World, listeners have been anticipating the final scenes of this extraordinary saga, which has sold over 40 million copies in over 32 languages. When Robert Jordan died in 2007, all feared that these concluding scenes would never be written. But working from notes and partials left by Jordan, established fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson stepped in to complete the masterwork.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Memory of Light to be better than the print version?

I read many of the other Wheel of Time books, but this one only listened to the audio version, so I cannot compare.

Would you recommend A Memory of Light to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes, this was the finale to a wonderful series by Robert Jordan. I felt that the end was rushed and am awaiting a sequel...lol

What about Michael Kramer and Kate Reading ’s performance did you like?

They did an outstanding job, so many characters and what a big time commitment.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Impossible, as are all of Jordan's books.

    Any additional comments?

I thought for all the details and drawn out characters and sub-plots the wrap up at the end was rushed. What happens to all the characters who live on...I think an epilogue would have been appropriate unless Mrs. Jordan wishes to have a series of sequels published. That would be disappointing as I have journeyed so long with this series and wish the ending was more thought out. Sad....

Her life by the sea in ruins, Pen has lost everything in the Earth Shaker that all but destroyed the city of Los Angeles. She sets out into the wasteland to search for her family, her journey guided by a tattered copy of Homer’s Odyssey. Soon she begins to realize her own abilities and strength as she faces false promises of safety, the cloned giants who feast on humans, and a madman who wishes her dead. On her voyage, Pen learns to tell stories that reflect her strange visions, while she and her fellow survivors navigate the dangers that lie in wait. In her signature style, Francesca Lia Block has created a world that is beautiful in its destruction and as frightening as it is lovely.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Young preteens, but even they are too smart for this convoluted tale.

What does Julia Whelan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does a good job with bad story line and dumb partial characters.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Love in the Time of Global Warming?

Everything, this book is so disjointed it ends up being a waste of time.

    Any additional comments?

Francesca Lia Block, you should know better, terrible.

What made the experience of listening to The Rook the most enjoyable?

I like the plot and character development, so many "didn't see that coming" experiences.
Really fun, hope Mr. O'Malley is writing about Bishop so I can have more adventures with this cast of characters.

Which character – as performed by Susan Duerden – was your favorite?

Miffanwy, of course, but all the the characters were authentic enough to make me feel that I was encountering individuals...

    don't know

What other book might you compare Princeps' Fury to and why?

This series is fun and great to listen to, quite a bit of action

What about Kate Reading’s performance did you like?

Her performance is really great, but I suspect as most of the characters are male, a male voices might have worked out better.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This book did not seems to progress in much of a significant way, most of the story is in the main character's head. America Singer vaccilates between confused teen and responsible mothering girl with character. This story could have been so much more fun and expanded upon. What do these girls do all day, sit and wait for the Prince. Gosh, I really do not think many of them would last with the level of boredom.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I thought Amy Rubinate was wonderful, so I am going to listen to something she has performed.

Have you listened to any of Amy Rubinate’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to other performances from Amy Rubinate, but I am going to do so.
