This acclaimed World War II psychological court room drama was the sensation of 1954. The play portrays a mutiny of naval officers aboard the U.S.S. Caine. Their suspicions concerning their captain's sanity lead to their rebellion and a subsequent court-martial.

Jean says: "A modern day mutiny"

Would you consider the audio edition of The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial (Dramatized) to be better than the print version?

Most Definitely. The voice actors really bring Wouk's play to life. If only we could get an audio version of the full novel, though...

What did you like best about this story?

    Hard to say.

Which character – as performed by Full Cast – was your favorite?

As with the full novel, Queeg. He is so pathetic that you really feel sorry for him.

A disease of unparalleled destructive force has sprung up almost simultaneously in every corner of the globe, all but destroying the human race. One survivor, strangely immune to the effects of the epidemic, ventures forward to experience a world without man. What he ultimately discovers will prove far more astonishing than anything he'd either dreaded or hoped for.

Would you try another book from George R. Stewart and/or Jonathan Davis and Connie Willis ?

By Jonathan Davis? Most definitely. Connie Willis? HELL NO!

The main narrator, Davis, does a terrific job. Willis's introduction is boring and impossible to skip without missing the first chapter. Because of her alone, skip the audio and read the book.

Dead of night. Salonika, Greece, December 1939. A clandestine order of monks embarks on a desperate mission: to transport a mysterious vault to a hiding place high in the Italian Alps. Its sinister contents, concealed for centuries, could rip apart the Christian world. In the sample below, Ludlum tells a story about how The Gemini Contenders got him in trouble with the British military.

What did you like best about The Gemini Contenders? What did you like least?

Anthony Heald is a wonderfully competent narrator.

What was most disappointing about Robert Ludlum’s story?

This is my all-time favorite Ludlum. I've read it several times, and even so, I've had a hard time following it because of how jumpy it was in the beginning.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    The denoument.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Yes.

Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Winds of War to be better than the print version?

Kevin Pariseau may be a capable reader, but not for this book or its sequel. His diction is too clipped and his pronunciation is horrible. Just when the listener is being brought into the power of the story, we are jarred out of it by Mr. Pariseau's reading. Instead of allowing us to get lost in the power of the book, we are, instead, reminded that this IS a novel we are listening to, whereas when we read it, we become drawn into the drama and feel for the characters.

What other book might you compare The Winds of War to and why?

War and Remembrance: written by the same author, and it is the continuing adventures of The Henry and Jastrow families.

What didn’t you like about Kevin Pariseau’s performance?

His words were too clipped and his pronunciation was terrible.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Way too long for that.
