To date this is the very best thinking that man has to offer as an explanation of the thinking behind being a Christian. Well said and well explained.

If you've considered listening to Annie Dillard, I consider this a classic. I've owned this book in print form for a dozen or so years and have thought a lot about the content and how the content comes to all of us (the life of a writer). Be ready for great insights coming from small observances as well as fantastic stories that are commentaries on all of our lives. This is a writing to be pondered so let it sink in a little at a time.

When I buy a book as a recommendation from audible I know it is at best a crap shoot. Sometimes I am impressed and sometimes not. This is a not. There is probably a good story in there somewhere but it's not in this book. I found the characters to be one dimensional and the story predictable. Every stunt that Gideon undertakes to get the the "truth" works out perfectly (successfully). But by the end it feels a little too fictionalized.
I would pass on this one.

Mix together a fair amount of history, a little bit of culture and an ample amount of theology and you have the recipe for "Simply Jesus". Historically it helps us see Jesus' place in a line of Messiahs, some coming before him and some after him(the last one as late as 100 years after Jesus' death). Culturally, we get a picture of the expectations surrounding Jesus, the excitement of a Messiah coming onto the scene and what one would look for if a Messiah was "outing" himself. But most important, theologically, this book is a discussion of how the church has done Jesus a real disservice by confining him to our church methods, programs, or making him our own "personal" saviour. I've listened to this book twice and probably will again.

I've been married for 34 years and still enjoyed this book. It was an interesting and fun listen. The Kellers are authentic and transparent in the stories they share. I especially liked "breaking the wedding china". As always, Keller dips deep into C.S. Lewis as well as a variety of other authors. I also own the print edition and enjoy the sources at the end of the book.

One of the few books I've listened to more than once! Good story and characters. Great job on John Cory character as well as Kate Mayfield (it's in this story that they hook up). Thanks Nelson Demille for some really good entertainment!

Pretty good story and characters. Especially the first time through. Some stories I listen to several times but wouldn't count this among them. My best advice is don't buy this one if you a book critic(villian) but seek it out if you are a writer(hero).

Great, Great, writing, information, character and story development! The perfomance of the narrators was superb. They will pull you into this story, keep you engaged, and dissappoint you with your own knowing that at some point the story must end.

Writer gives great insight into the lives and writings of these four Catholic writers. I liked the insight into their lives set in the context of historical events as well as the reference to their writings and their interaction with each other.

Story and Reading, both exceptional!
