  • Manhood for Amateurs: The Pleasures and Regrets of a Husband, Father, and Son

As a devoted son, as a passionate husband, and above all as a father, Chabon's memories of childhood, of his parents' marriage and divorce, of moments of painful adolescent comedy and giddy encounters with the popular art and literature of his own youth, are like a theme played by the mad quartet of which he now finds himself co-conductor. At once dazzling, hilarious, and moving, Manhood for Amateurs is destined to become a classic.

    "Skip this One!"
    Overall

This book was horrible! This book was seperated into several boring stories of the author's childhood/manhood. The crux of each of these stories offered no real value or intrest. This book was not funny, sentimental, or in any way entertaining. Worst of all was the narration in which the author read the book with the voice and inflections of a 5 year old child. Skip this book.

Con man Joe Berlin was used to scoring easy cash off of gullible women. But that was before he met Mona Brassard - and found himself holding a stolen stash of raw heroin. Now that Joe has fallen hard for Mona, he's got to pull off the most dangerous con of his career: one that will leave him either a killer - or a corpse. Block's debut novel under his own name is a classic example of prime pulp fiction, with an ending that will astonish even the most jaded crime-fiction fan.

Great author and story but when you download this book, you will not receive the entire story. This version is not abridged, it's just missing the second half of the book. Do Not Purchase!

Winesburg, Ohio has the most memorable cast of characters in 20th-century fiction. Listeners will remember at least a few stories and their characters for the rest of their lives. Each of the 23 stories stands on its own. And each is also interwoven into the fabric of the book.

Great stories ruined by one of the worst readings I have heard. I guess I got what I paid for with this cheap version. Buy the book and read it yourself.
