Back When We Were Grownups is about one woman's search for who she really is. Listen as a 53-year-old grandmother tries to recover her girlhood self and that dignified grownup she had once been.

What was most disappointing about Anne Tyler???s story?

I couldn't make it through the first chapter. Who wants to listen to someone's inner thoughts about their daily "to do" list? It's bad enough to have your own inner though to-do list... Sorry, Anne Tyler. I was giving you a second try after reading an article that made me think I would really like you as a person. Just not my type of book... and the narrator's voice was so annoying on this book. Like listening to a fussy aunt who is stuck in the 50's, trying to always do what society wants from her, rather than listening to someone's real and interesting inside thoughts.

Would you be willing to try another one of Blair Brown???s performances?

    No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Boredom. Wishing I hadn't used my credit on this book.

When Eddie was 12 years old, all he wanted for Christmas was a bike. Although his life had gotten harder - and money tighter - since his father died and the family bakery closed...Eddie dreamed that somehow his mother would find a way to have his dream bike gleaming beside their modest Christmas tree that magical morning. What he got from her instead was a sweater. "A stupid, handmade, ugly sweater" that young Eddie left in a crumpled ball in the corner of his room.

Where does The Christmas Sweater rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

Hard to say.... if I'd read it at a different time of the year, it'd probably be mid to high favorites range. Listening to it in December, it was near the top! Just the kind of story I wanted to hear to remind me about the real spirit of Christmas.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Christmas Sweater?

I had to stop listening for a few days after one chapter's close devastated me.

Have you listened to any of Glenn Beck???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first Glenn Beck performance / book I've listened to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could have! I listen on my commute, so it helps me pass the time and stay awake. :)

    Any additional comments?

I would say Beck's voice added very much to the experience. He's quite theatrical!
