After nearly two decades in Britain, Bill Bryson, the acclaimed author of such best sellers as The Mother Tongue and Made in America, decided it was time to move back to the United States for a while. This was partly to let his wife and kids experience life in Bryson's homeland, and partly because he had read that 3.7 million Americans believed that they had been abducted by aliens at one time or another. It was thus clear to him that his people needed him.

Would you consider the audio edition of Notes From a Small Island to be better than the print version?

Yes, in a book like this is better than printed.

What other book might you compare Notes From a Small Island to and why?

Well it has to be Down Under by Bill Bryson too. I am English by birth but now an Australian, I learned more about Australian history from Bill reading Down Under than others as he seems to pick those stories that is well, just darn more interesting. He does the same here about the English.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Bacon and Eggs, early morning rain and cold... I remember it so well. Cold wind Swept port towns dark and closed. Yep remember those well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Cringe maybe, as I have memories like these myself. Cringe in a nice way Bill.

    Any additional comments?

Enjoyable, if you grew up in England through the 70's and 80's a lot of this will hit home. But for anyone else, it is still a fun read/listen.

Would you listen to The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger again? Why?

    No, not again.

    Any additional comments?

I got into this as it was written by Stephen King, I found this hard to get into but will continue for the whole series for if anything, Stephen King will draw you in eventually, twist and turn you and spit you out with you knowing you have been through something. I have a high hope for the other books

Where does Powerful Psychic Sleep Protections and Healing Subliminal Hypnosis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I like subliminal Hypnosis and expected a lot more detail about sleeping issues but for a subliminal this does well.

    Any additional comments?

I would like to listen to more but I would ask any writer to include reasons for problems people experience requiring the subliminal hypnosis as a means to fixing a problem. Knowing the subject and the problems helps in the resolution in my view

In 1854, Victorian miners fought a deadly battle under the flag of the Southern Cross at the Eureka Stockade. Though brief and doomed to fail, the battle is legend in both our history and in the Australian mind. Henry Lawson wrote poems about it, its symbolic flag is still raised, and even the nineteenth-century visitor Mark Twain called it: "a strike for liberty". Was this rebellion a fledgling nation’s first attempt to assert its independence under colonial rule? Or was it merely rabble-rousing by unruly miners determined not to pay their taxes?

From the best-selling author of Agent Zigzag, the thrilling true story of the greatest and most successful wartime deception ever attempted. One April morning in 1943, a sardine fisherman spotted the corpse of a British solder floating in the sea off the coast of Spain and set in train a course of events that would change the course of the Second World War.

What made the experience of listening to Operation Mincemeat the most enjoyable?

I found this story enjoyable as it would make such a great spy movie.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Operation Mincemeat?

memorable, hmm, interesting question for this story for me I suppose to consider that a death can make a difference and save thousands of lives is well proven.

What about John Lee’s performance did you like?

enjoyable is all I can have

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither laugh or cry, but made a tad feeling that war could be fun. I do not mean this disrespectfully for the operation saved lives however, this was the nature of the spying game. I do not consider for one moment the British Agents did as the effort involved and risk would have been to the detriment of lives.

    Any additional comments?

A good companion piece to Agent Zig Zag

A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

Sherrie Dunford says: "So much truth, much of it scary."

Smaug certainly looked fast asleep, when Bilbo peeped once more from the entrance. He was just about to step out onto the floor when he caught a sudden thin ray of red from under the drooping lid of Smaug's left eye. He was only pretending to be sleep! He was watching the tunnel entrance! Whisked from his comfortable hobbit-hole by Gandalf the wizard and a band of dwarves, Bilbo Baggins finds himself caught up in a plot to raid the treasure hoard of Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon.
