A definitive, deeply moving narrative, Bonhoeffer is a story of moral courage in the face of the monstrous evil that was Nazism. After discovering the fire of true faith in a Harlem church, Bonhoeffer returned to Germany and became one of the first to speak out against Hitler. As a double agent, he joined the plot to assassinate the Führer and was hanged in Flossenbürg concentration camp at age thirty-nine. Since his death, Bonhoeffer has grown to be one of the most fascinating, complex figures of the twentieth century.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was an amazing human being. I learned much from his courage and conviction. I think others can learn from his example as well

What did you like best about this story?

The inspiration to be a better person

Have you listened to any of Malcolm Hillgartner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have never listened to Malcolm Hillgartner before but definately will again.

Was Bonhoeffer worth the listening time?

The whole story could have been told in 2 installations. The third installation was long and boring. You just wanted to get to the good stuff, but had to go through too much rhetoric.

This book is very well written and the narrators make it complete. I have read and listened to many books on the Jewish Holocaust, this one took my breath away. It is a love story and a courageous survival story. Make sure you listen to the authors comments at the end of the book.

The newest novel from #1 New York Times best-selling author and "queen of royal fiction" (USA Today) Philippa Gregory tells the passionate story of Elizabeth of York, daughter of the White Queen, who gets caught in the middle of a battle for the crown of England. A princess from birth, Elizabeth fell in love with Richard III, though her mother made an arranged betrothal for her with the pretender to the throne: Henry Tudor. When Henry defeats Richard against all odds, Elizabeth has to marry the man who murdered her lover in battle.

I have not been disappointed once by this fabulous series, and The White :Princess just tied the whole thing together. I am definitely going back to listen to the rest of the series now that I know the end.
Bianca Amato was a perfect fit to narrate this book. She adds emphasis to the already great written material.

I would recommend this book based on the characters, plot, and narrator

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the interplay between Amy and Richard.

What about Kate Reading’s performance did you like?

Kate Reading seems to capture the time period as well as the inner thoughts of the characters

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    most definately!

    Any additional comments?

I love historical fiction as it takes me to a real place in time. This book (although mostly fiction) still transported me to 1803 England and France.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I already have recommended this book to quite a few people. I am unsure if the written version will be as fabulous as the audible one, however I think the stories hold their own.

All the stories were memorable. I enjoyed every one of them.

  • 11-22-63: A Novel

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

What made the experience of listening to 11-22-63 the most enjoyable?

The narrator was amazing! The accents of all the characters made this listening so enjoyable! He must have needed oxygen during the 31+ hours he spent preparing for such a long read! He had such a great feel for all the characters, even the short term ones!

Would you be willing to try another book from Stephen King? Why or why not?

Probably not a long one...Perhaps a shorter book

    Which scene was your favorite?

I didn't have a certain scene. It was learning about how people lived 50 years ago. The author and narrator made the time come alive!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

50 years ago we lost a charismatic, daring young president, John F. Kennedy. Can Jake Epping/George Amberson survive long enough against the "Obdurate" past to change 1122/63?

In The Kingmaker's Daughter, number one New York Times best-selling author Philippa Gregory presents the riveting story of Anne Neville, her sister Isabel, and their ever-changing fortunes. The Kingmaker's Daughter is the gripping and ultimately tragic story of the daughters of the man known as the "Kingmaker", the most powerful magnate in England through the Cousins' Wars. In the absence of a son and heir, he uses the two girls as pawns in his political games.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Kingmaker's Daughter to be better than the print version?

I believe the characters come to life so much better when read by a talented narrator. This book was no exception...well done

Who was your favorite character and why?

Anne was by far my favorite character. I was disappointed that she died of a broken heart after all she had conquered already in her life. I would have wished her to grow stronger, not weaker. However, you can't change history.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.
