I read the rave reviews and couldn't wait to get this book to enjoy on a long car trip. It wasn't worth a book credit - the characters and plot are silly. Even my children didn't want to finish it. Not a good selection for anyone over the age of 11.
I read it for a book club, turns out it had been recommended by the author. Better options for the credit in my opinion.
I enjoy the Amelia Peabody Series, but this book was not as good as the others. The ending, in fact the whole book, seemed too cobbled together (rather than following a well thought out story arc).
I bought this audiobook because my teenaged son enjoys action/fantasy/science fiction books. We couldn't enjoy this one, though. It stinks - with a putrid, rotty stench that makes your stomach turn and cramp until you wish you were dead ... That's just my imitation of the style of writing found in this book. We turned it off after about 40 minutes, when the subject being described in agonizing detail was urine.
Truly enjoyable! This is the first audiobook that I've listened to twice in quick succession. The story is wonderful, and the narration is superb.
We greatly enjoyed the first Sally Lockhart novel. This one however, is too dark.
My children found this BORING. It is a program for parents who like to think they are listening to something for the kids. The program itself is too cute with little kid voices. We listened to one with a "time-travel" interview of an historical figure - it was so painfully slow we had to turn it off.
