Ordered the abridged play version by mistake. Wanted the book. I had trouble paying attention to the play version.
I can't get enough Jussi Adler-Olsen. and his Department Q. I love the way the plot and characters are fully developed , horrible and funny at the same time...
I enjoyed this book. It was not as intense as my usual thrillers...but it kept my attention from beginning to end. A good book.
I read all the Nesbo Harry Hole books...including the one where we think he's dead. That was shocking. Hole is brought back in this book...and it is handled pretty well considering we all thought him dead. But I think once killed....characters should stay killed. I'm hoping Nesbo finds another character to develop...as I love his writing but am now off Harry.
This was well-written and moved along pretty slowly. I kept waiting for the characters to actually take charge of their lives and they really never did. As an addict to thrillers this was a different type of book for me--and really had trouble being 'patient' as the story evolved.
The plot was pretty unbelievable. The Headhunter character....well--I don't want to read any more about him....It lacked the strength of Nesbo's other books and characters and plots. Disappointing.
This didn't reach usual Jack Higgins heights. I felt it was weaker than most. The characters not so full as in other books.
The series should be read #1 to latest as the characters develop and evolve over time. This is soft mystery and a good change after intense thrillers.
I've read many books in this series. I usually return to the series for a soft break after reading pretty intense thrillers. I am very particular that any series has strong characters--and this is so in Three Pines Series. I recommend starting at #1 in series and moving through that way as the characters reoccur and develop book to book.
I have been spoiled by Adler-Olsen's books. I love his main characters--they are full, well-developed people. The books are funny, thrilling and intelligent and fast moving. What more could I ask for---but more in translation and read by the same reader???? Bravo Department Q! Highly recommended reading by a picky reader who demands lots from my books
Been looking for a good series to read so tried out Gray Man. It is pretty unbelievable that this main character overcomes the entire world coming after him. So unbelievable I didn't want to read another story. Very disappointing.
