In the fourth installment of The Dark Tower, Roland and his band have narrowly escaped the city of Lud and boarded Blaine, a train that will take them to, of all places, Kansas, where the ghost city of Topeka has been depopulated by a superflu and where, alongside Interstate 70, an emerald palace rises enchantingly. Before Roland and the companions of his ka-tet continue along the Path of the Beam, Roland must tell his companions the tale that defines him both as a man and hero.

This is classic Stephen King with great character development and foreshadowing. I recommend this book to every King fan who has the patience to follow him through the web of a great tale.

  • Why Are We at War?

    • UNABRIDGED (1 hr and 54 mins)

Why Are We at War? is an explosive argument about George W. Bush and his quest for empire. Norman Mailer lays bare the White House's position on why war in Iraq is necessary and justified. By scrutinizing the administration's words and actions leading up to the current crisis, Mailer carefully builds his case that Bush is pursuing war not in the name of security or anti-terrorism or human rights, but in an undeclared yet fully realized ambition of global empire.

It was a relief to hear that not everyone is turning a blind eye to a potentially dangerous time in American history. Mr Mailer has dared to speak the harse truth about the dangers of allowing our fears to lead us into the same self-destructive choices made by other great cultures that have preceeded us. "Why Are We At War" asks that we take a close look at the amounts of power we give out elected leaders, and at the rights we are all too eager to give up in the name of security and personal safety. It's an important opus, to which I say, "Amen".
