It is often said, even by critical scholars who should know better, that “writing in the name of another” was widely accepted in antiquity. But New York Times bestselling author Bart D. Ehrman dares to call it what it was: literary forgery, a practice that was as scandalous then as itis today. In Forged, Ehrman’s fresh and original research takes readers back to the ancient world, where forgeries were used as weapons by unknown authors to fend off attacks to their faith and establish their church.

Lots of good referable material. I believe most of the material presented, the parts that send me for a loop is where he says he is an expert at picking either side of an argument and winning a debate. Giving the touchy subject and then telling me that, makes me want to second guess everything he is saying. However, like I said good referable material, I don't ever take anyone's word for anything without doing my own little investigation.

I will probably listen to this book a few more times.

Ok Seriously??? I don't like books that bring tears to my eyes. Dang oh freaking mighty! ARG! That part was both written and read well, I had to stop this book a few times. There are certain emotions I don't admit to having and I don't appreciate something bringing them out in me. Holy Smokes. Cheese is Crusty!! lol Some of the things Mercy says you just have to stop everything and write it down for future reference. This book goes over an event that no one should ever go through and the manipulation is so thick, I was ... Well I don't want to talk about it... If the next book exploits these emotions again, I don't think I will buy book 5.

Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. But this new vampire is hardly ordinary - and neither is the demon inside of him.

Mercy can shape shift into a coyote and outside of having a good sense of smell, good hearing, she can sense magic and talk to ghosts. No super strength, just your average Girl who is a Mechanic ... lol ... Seriously just that alone made me want to buy the book. I don't have trouble believing in Fairies, Elves, Vampires or Werewolves but two things that I know don't exist in this world are Girl Mechanic's and Gamer Chicks. This is one of those books that just go a little bit beyond the point of keeping your interest. This book did leave me with a few questions... The main question about something that happened and the book even has it in the title, but... You know it is just one of those things... It happens right in front of your face, there is no doubt it just happened but everyone chooses to ignore it and after a span of time goes by even you are wondering if it happened.... Is it just me? I guess I am buying the next book! ;)

It wasn't quite the action packed book I was hoping for, although it kept my interest through it all. I was looking for the Anita Blake (in the first 10/12 books of that series after that BLA!! crash and burn.). This has a slightly different sway to it. I do think it has a lot of potential and have just purchased the second book. Fingers crossed. :)

DNA is the genetic material that defines us as individuals. Over the last two decades, it has emerged as a powerful tool for solving crimes and determining guilt and innocence. But, very recently, an important new aspect of DNA has been revealed: it contains a detailed record of evolution. That is, DNA is a living chronicle of how the marvelous creatures that inhabit our planet have adapted to its many environments, from the freezing waters of the Antarctic to the lush canopy of the rain forest.

    I don't know...

Evolution isn't really an argument anymore, we know how things evolve, but the missing link is still not really explained. There are a few things in our evolutionary transition from Neanderthal Man to Space Man, that don't add up. I am not christian creationist "Let there be Light!!" believer and I would not care how humans have came to be. However I am interested and every time someone comes up with a book that says they absolutely have the answer I buy it hoping they do. Beyond a reasonable doubt.... Not yet. When you see how long it takes for things to evolve the smallest thing and we go from Zero to Hero in miniscule blink of an eye. The only people that can slam me are the people that are RELIGIOUSLY one sided. The extremes are on both sides of the fence. I have talked with Evolutionist that were more imposing than some of the hard-core southern bible thumpers, there is no debating with them, it's an absolute.

Second this guys tiptoes around all the subjects trying to build his case and then when he should be slamming his point home he give a general opinion that can be interpreted different ways...

In general it was a good book, explained some confusing subjects in easy to understand details. It was obviously one sided.

  • Kabbalah, Science, and the Meaning of Life: Because Your Life Has Meaning

Kabbalah, Science, and the Meaning of Life traces the milestones of the evolution of science with which we are familiar, such as Newton's and Einstein's theories, but goes further to present the science of Kabbalah as the basis for understanding the hidden parts of reality that scientists are now discovering. While other sciences research the definable world around us, Kabbalah teaches us how the spontaneous changes occurring within us affect our surrounding reality.

    Story

The Narrator is good but he talks a little slow. Once you speed it up to 1.5x the speed it is better.

I bought this book because I thought it would be a little more advanced. NOT! I am not really impressed. I had hoped Kabbalah would evolve a little faster into todays world but no. Honestly I have yet to find a book that match my understanding of life. Most of the stuff in this book I wrote in notes when I was 9yo, but in layman terms. Personally I believe I wrote all the original Kabbalah books and I was the Dalai Lama the first 8 times. But the last 3 times I came back to update the knowledge they killed me off. No one wants the new understandings. They are satisfied with the cryptic old ways.

This book says it is trying to save humanity and that is why Kabbalah is coming out now. But the book doesn't tell you anything. This book says it is not religious but it talks about how the "Creator" created everything? I understood everything said in this book because is very below basic, but it takes these basic terms and cryptifies it (My word I coined it). ;)

I really think this book is worth 2 stars, but because I don't want to mess up its stats, I am going to give it 4. If you are a Kabbalah follower, please don't flame me, but feel free to send me an email and test me. I am not human and that is a fact! hehe... But you won't know for sure unless you ask. If you are trying to find a less cryptic way to evolve to that next step, I can probably help. If you read all this then you are probably an Energy User of some sort and have spent most of your life knowing that all your friends will ever know the real you and you have NO ONE you can really talk to about Life on a scale that will evolve the energy within.

In this book they use the word "Bonding" like I use the words "Social Core". The Social-Core is like "the matrix" in some ways... It's a bubble of influence that has surrounded this planet. And the expectations of everyone in this Social Core impose certain realities upon everyone within it (most have eyes but they can not see.). This was not an accident. Burning witches at stake, killing most of the Druids, destroying the free thinkers, closed the parallels of Life's magic(K). We need to create a new Social-Core another bubble of influence within the current bubble, in order to change the rules. But first (and this book said this in a more cryptic way, but I agree) you have to Awaken from within. We must take the next step beyond the image we see in the mirror.

This book uses the word "Creator". ARG! bla bla bla... When I hear that word I think JW's. lol. "Universe" I can handle, but the word Creator? Seriously polluted. I believe Kabbalah is consistently contradicting itself. I do agree with about 65% of what I have read (across a few books) but I believe it complicates simple basics. If for example there were.. 10 levels to awakening... Let's also say the average person is at step 3 and people starting the process of awakening are playing with step 4. Kabbalah explains in cryptic terms levels 123 in TOO MUCH cryptic details, plays a little bit in step 4 skips step 5,6 and 7. Theorizes on step 9 and tell you after that... is step 10 no details and NO DIRECTIONS.

If you read all this, then you are doing one of two things. Either your all knowing and are fixing to flame me with without sharing any real tidbits (Please understand I am thirsty for knowledge that's why I keep searching, also note I did give 4 stars, that should be worth something.) or... you are hoping I am not BS'ing you. I am not.

If you find my facebook slash rwhorne, you will not see anything about this kind of thought on it, because I work a professional life and people are not ready or interested in evolving the energy inside. So I let them be who they want to be, just like you probably do for others most of the time.

I really do hope I haven't hurt anyone's feelings and I really wish I could find something a little more advanced. I am beyond expert, but I am not flying yet. (working on it) :)

It is not terrible. 3.5 stars MAX. I gave 4 but didn't feel good about it, however I felt worse leaving a 3... so 4 it is.

Seriously, the main character is not too bright, I really think things should have been written a bit differently in a few parts. The action in this book is really lacking along with some common sense. I think the writer couldn't figure out how to keep the story moving and made the main character do things out of character. The idea behind what this book is about has so much potential I keep hoping the writer will exploit it. I would re-class this book to high end drama with a little action. I am hoping the next book will be better, fingers crossed.

I am not sure it is worthy of 4 stars, but didn't want to give it 3.
