Doing more then a couple hours of driving a day in rush hour traffic, this is my cure to Road Rage! lol Well... I don't get Road Rage but I had never been a fan of stop and go traffic. These Audio Books make it so I don't mind at all, in fact I sometimes feel I get home too quickly and have to sit in the car for another 5 minutes until I get to a part I can feel good about pausing. hehe Group Hugz!

  • Forged: Writing in the Name of God - Why the Bible's Authors Are Not Who We Think They Are

It is often said, even by critical scholars who should know better, that “writing in the name of another” was widely accepted in antiquity. But New York Times bestselling author Bart D. Ehrman dares to call it what it was: literary forgery, a practice that was as scandalous then as itis today. In Forged, Ehrman’s fresh and original research takes readers back to the ancient world, where forgeries were used as weapons by unknown authors to fend off attacks to their faith and establish their church.

Lots of good referable material. I believe most of the material presented, the parts that send me for a loop is where he says he is an expert at picking either side of an argument and winning a debate. Giving the touchy subject and then telling me that, makes me want to second guess everything he is saying. However, like I said good referable material, I don't ever take anyone's word for anything without doing my own little investigation.

I will probably listen to this book a few more times.

  • Bearing an Hourglass: Incarnations of Immortality, Book Two

When life seems pointless to Norton, he accepts the position of Incarnation of Time. With the other incarnations - Death, Fate, War, and Nature - distracting him, Satan springs a cunning trap. Bearing an Hourglass is a fascinating, richly imagined tale that reaches beyond genre conventions. Science-fiction/fantasy legend Piers Anthony combines a gripping plot with a serious and thought-providing study of good and evil.

I honestly am not sure how to rate this book. It is not bad, do believe I liked "On a Pale Horse" more but I would not say this book was worse than the first one, both were really slow and just interesting enough to keep my attention. The idea that Death, Time, War, Nature, Fate are offices to be held by incarnations is entertaining all by itself. I think this author (based on these first two books) is a Good Person and his writing mimics his own personality... Simple, Organized, OCD. Honestly I think there could be so much more to these first two books.

If you are into SLOW mellow (very mellow) drama, that plays in the area of magic and sci-fi. Very few PG rated undertones (by today's standards).

It is books like this that inspire me to write my own. :) And one of the things I do like about these first two book is the Authors Notes on the end. I think it is awesome that he took the time to share. That in itself makes these books worth it to me.

In this, the first novel of the best-selling Incarnations of Immortality series, Piers Anthony combines a deeply moving examination of the meaning of life and death with a gripping story of romance and loyalty, all set in a world of magic and technical wizardry.

This book started off really slow and it didn't pickup that much afterwards, however it was good enough to keep my interest. Really I think the idea behind what this book is about is what kept my interest, it is a totally new and rather refreshing idea of looking at the dark thoughts of death. I especially like that the author put a little extra at the end, about his own ideas of life and some of the things that happened to him that were incorporated into some of the stories in the book. There were some funny parts to this book and even though it was kind of slow... It was interesting (did I say that already... Sorry). I debated whether or not to buy the next book, but gave-in even though most of the reviews suggest that this book was better then the second one. Which worries me a little. I guess I will let you know when I finish it. :)

Malcolm, head of the vampire Church of Eternal Life, is no particular friend to Anita Blake. So when he shows up in her office, to ask for her help against creatures so feared that no vampire will willingly speak their name, Anita is surprised. But she believes him. Malcolm may not be a Master of the City, but he's an old and powerful vampire, a leader of men, and he does not easily ask for help - especially from Anita and Jean-Claude, whose power Malcolm considers corrupt.

The last few books seem to be progressively getting worse. What was bugging me in the couple previous books were how Anita seems to either forget the power she has or refuses to use it... Anita is pathetic in this book and the previous book. The questions and how the dialog is stretched across chapters and chapters. I swear, Anita is so stupid sometimes... ARG! things have to be completely spelled out for her in these books. I honestly think some of the book was an after thought. After Laurell finished the book she thought there wasn't enough words so she went back and added an immense amount of USELESS detail. In the past few books, it is too many questions, to many wasted arguments between Anita and the Wolf King, and in between crazy sex with explicit details. I really and in AWE of how many ways Laurell K. Hamilton can describe a sexual encounter. I have no doubt that she is an awesome woman. But holy smokes over, too much is too much. I am struggling wanting to get through this series but overwhelmed with boring dialog because I got the point of the argument 3 chapters ago, hello... And frustrated because Anita is only BAD ASS when death for her and everyone she loves is eminent. The Narrator is great, I don't think I could have read this book myself. And thank God I can set the audio to read at higher speeds, it makes the sex and the boring parts a little more entertaining at Chipmunk speed.

If I didn't like this series so much I would have felt I over paid. It was way too short, honestly if it weren't for book 5 being out I would whine more. There was a few good parts but I felt it was just a little slow. by the time it started really getting interesting it was over. ARG! After I read book 5 I will re-review this book and see whether the added information here was that important. I also thought that Luke was reading a little slow in the beginning, like he just woke up. It was still good.... hmmm yaaa...ahh Mostly. :)

    Don't dis-me I gave it 5 stars... :)

Did you know that there’s so much empty space inside matter that the entire human race could be squeezed into the volume of a sugar cube? Or that you grow old more quickly on the top floor of a building than on the ground floor? The two towering achievements of modern physics are quantum theory and Einstein’s general theory of relativity. But, almost a century after their advent, most people haven’t the slightest clue what either is about. Get set for the most entertaining science book of the year.

This is definitely the kind of book you can listen to a few times and get something new out of it each time. There was a countless number of times when he explained something that wow me into a spiral of deep thought and when I came out of it I realized I hadn't been listing to what was being said for several minutes and had to stop and rewind, thank god for that 30 second rewind button. If it wasn't for the fact that I have an iPhone, I would have warn that button out by now. Great Book.

How the mighty have fallen! Once a sworn enemy of all vampires, Anita is now the human consort of both Jean-Claude, the Master Vampire, and Micah, the leopard shapeshifter. But her love life doesn't stop there. It can't. For Anita - not quite as human as she once was - is consumed by both the lusts of the vampire and the primal hungers of the wereleopards. Desires that must be sated - time and time again.

There are a lot of monsters in Anita Blake's life. And some of them are human. One such individual is the man she calls Edward, a bounty hunter who specializes in the preternatural. He calls her to help him hunt down the greatest evil she has ever encountered - something that kills and maims and vanishes into the night. Something Anita will have to face alone.

This was a good book too, just as good as all the previous ones, I am a little bummed that they don't have book 10 on Audible, If I had noticed that I would never have started purchasing the series. I can't go on now until they get it. Probably just as well, spent enough money on this series in one month. Wow. I can't even add it to my wish list. No more books for me.
