I hate when Anita acts like a typical woman and does or says things that only makes sense to woman. There were a few parts I had to struggle through, but it was mostly a good book.
It is not terrible. 3.5 stars MAX. I gave 4 but didn't feel good about it, however I felt worse leaving a 3... so 4 it is.
Seriously, the main character is not too bright, I really think things should have been written a bit differently in a few parts. The action in this book is really lacking along with some common sense. I think the writer couldn't figure out how to keep the story moving and made the main character do things out of character. The idea behind what this book is about has so much potential I keep hoping the writer will exploit it. I would re-class this book to high end drama with a little action. I am hoping the next book will be better, fingers crossed.
Seriously... This book starts off ok... then quickly evolves to the point where you know something big is going to happen soon... For the last 3/4 of the book you feel like something big is going to happen and the main-character is going to evolve into a butt whooping BFH with some amazing power or summoning or anything... Then the book ends... Wait ... What .... ??? Seriously ??? It reminds me of that joke "The Penguin" The book takes you to the tilt but before the climax she gets up and walks away. lol haha. "Wait wait wait!!"
With the exception of all the swearing and the implied sex-scene (Just one) at the end of the book, it seem more like a Teen rehab book to me. Although it kept my interest, I didn't feel an ounce of suspense. Nothing at the end of the chapter that compels me to get the next book. I am not sure it is worthy of 4 stars, but didn't want to give it 3.
I am not sure what I was looking for when I got this book, nor am I sure whether it met my expectations. I will go with saying there was an element of interesting. I guess I was hoping for something more along the lines of "Leadership Secrets of Attila the Hun".
I am a little disappointed with Drizzt character in this book. He has pretty much lost his edge and most of his magic. Instead they have a Barbarian that Drizzt trains and it seems he has the flair that Drizzt had in the original series. It was a good book, I am just a little disappointed I am not sure I am going on with this series.
This was a very good series. Almost start to finish. I am pleasantly surprise to see another series that has branched off from this. Yaay!
This was another book that I had a hard time keeping up with in the beginning. The whole idea behind the logic in the lives of the Dark Elves was something that took a while to grasp. In Fact, as I started figuring it out I was liking it less and less. In addition to the different things that were going on all at the same time, sent the dialog in so many directions in the first few chapters I was not really getting what was happening and almost stopped reading.
But once Drizzt's character started to form, it got awesome real fast. :)
Just as good as the first one. A good series so far. Awesome.
I like the book, but... There are just a few things that tiptoe on the side of "Ummm, I can't believe you have to Male Arch Angles screwing each other and one getting gang raped by a hoard of demons. I could have lived without a few of the details. I am not religious, not gay but reading this doesn't hurt my feelings, however the ideas the purpose is based on is slightly contradictory. Of course I am not sure if that is the reason I like the book and raising an eye-brow at the same time.
This book started off a little rough. It was all over the board for a good while, several chapters at least. I was fighting with the idea of getting my credit back from audible on this one. It wasn't until about (maybe) halfway through that everything started turning around and making sense. Then it started getting pretty good. It ended pulling it altogether, but I wasn't sure I wanted to get the second book in the series.
I just finished the second book and I am glad I struggled through this one. It gets better.
