This was a very good book. She is an amazing woman and an amazing swimmer. Having had 5 shoulder operations myself, it was difficult listening to parts of this. I think this will help thousands of athletes that suffer from depression understand that they are not alone and that they should not suffer alone. Seek help. It is available.
I agree Goldberg's voice is difficult to get used to. I am glad that I had read all the reviews before I bought this. I think you have to make friends with Natalie and listen like you would to a wise friend or grandmother. Her information is good and informative. Not everything will apply to everyone. She is kinda outlandish at times. But again, how badly do you want to write your best stuff? If you want to write better, then get over the voice and listen anyway.
I kept listening thinking it would get better, but it doesn't. He jumps all over the place. I hated the characters, all of them. His "X" was stupid, his girlfriend, dumb. Walter was weird and needed to be slapped and The Sports Writer himself needed to be shot to put him out of everyone's misery. Don't waste your money.
If you can get past the language, which was easy to do in my opinion, then you will appreciate the message being related. The history of Babylon at the end I found also interesting. Highly recommend this book.
As the book started I was not all that impressed. Then about a quarter of the way through the author struck a cord. The rest of the book was great. I highly recommend it.
I saw Joe Vitale in The Secret; then I listened to him on The Master of the Secret Series. While there is no question he is a good marketer and also trying to market his own stuff, once you get the end you will know he truly is trying to make the world a better place by helping people. Very sincere guy (even though you wouldn't know it by the first part of the book).
