If I had a teen of 16 - 18 years old I might suggest it to them - - after the homework was done. This is not a book for an older person.
good - not great
the switch between Ferris and Brooks
The last third of the book needs an Editor's pen to tighten it up. Drags in several places with unneeded details.
This version of Reacher was way TOO Reacheresque ! Shallow plot line and peremptory ending. Perhaps written too quickly with out much thought.
The scene appears simple - just an apartment house - and then it pulls you in and in. Cline slowly increases the mystery and at the same time we learn about our own fears as the characters learn about their surroundings. I felt at home in this story because it has parallels with my favorite "American Gods."
Ray Porters subtle shifts during this fast paced mystery are so well done that he enhances the mystery and he brings out the fear .
Maybe Cline will team up with Gaiman soon ?
The performance of the characters by the reader was good and the book was WAY too long.
This is the classic
