What did you like best about Catherine the Great? What did you like least?

This is an amazing story but I couldn't bring myself to finish it. The narrator had a very heavy American accent, who failed to bring me into the world of this Russan Queen. Deakins reading was boring, and inappropriate for this wonderful tale. Totally spoilt my experience.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mark Deakins?

A female voice as it's about a female Queen. Joanne Lumley would have been perfect.

Was Catherine the Great worth the listening time?

No.

Would you listen to Nancy Wake again? Why?

Nancy Wake was an amazing woman - a spy in WWII. There was so much detail in this book - historically, emotionally. I really felt there with her - such a strong and very brave woman - a inspiration to us all. Makes you feel grateful for the life you do have.

If you could sum up A Killing Frost in three words, what would they be?

It was amusing, serious with some terrific quotes that I will try to remember when needed. If you like British detective stories this one will be for you. Very easy to listen to - well I just love Stephen Thorne voice - and he's so great with the characters.

Have you listened to any of Stephen Thorne???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes - thinks he is just an amazing reading.

Bryson is awesome - so much information you have to listen many times to absorb its content. He writes in such an easy and enjoyable way - great if your interested in history and like it delivered to you in an entertaining manner. Highly recommended.
