Yes. Not an earth moving novel - but a nice lite listen for the summer.
Wow! What a book.
Can't remember the last time I was so surprised by an ending that it had me noodling the story for days.
Jodi Picoult - Well Done.
Love a mystery where you can learn something new in the process.
The intrigue of a 300 year old Jacobin "plot" involves learning the ins and outs of the practice of Genelogy as well as a lessor known (for me anyway) piece of history - the reigns of Queen Anne and Queen Mary of Britain.
Good story that keeps you guessing right up to the end.
Dry reading. A lot of facts and names.
Just bought Blood Feud - about the Clintons and the Obamas -hear it is more lively read.
Great book and found myself unable to pull myself away.
From Texas in the 30's to the last days of the war in Germany, to living the American dream of post WWII - all are the setting for danger and good vs evil dialogue.
The introspective approach to following the main characters as they deal with internal lusts & wants, and keeping true to oneself in the midst of ruin & danger makes this a captivating read.
This book improves on the last (although the threads to the last book are tenuous enough that you could start with this one)
It takes one of the characters a couple of years forward into 1964 Mississippi on the Freedom train.
The main character ventures beyond her safe confined world and learns to deal with the changes inside and outside her home.
This interspersed with "newsreel" type vignettes makes for a great listen.
What an unusual book.
1) The awkwardness of a young teenager growing up in the 60's,
2) The docu-drama pieces of what it was like to live through the Cuba missile scare, and
3) The hint of the civil rights movement that was about to surface
Characters are engaging and loved the narrator - her voice made the book a delight to listen to.
Highly recommend the book.
An odd little detective saga that takes place in the West. Mormons, Indians, Sherriff and gunslingers up to a little mischief.
Bought the book not realizing its nine of a series.
An enjoyable read none the less.
Girl wakes up with no memory. What is real? What isn't? Is this guy her husband? Just when you think she's figured it out. Bang. Another plot twist.
Great listen to while away the week.
An unusual book about two teenagers facing the end of high school. Twists and turns made you keep listening.
Saw the movie Exodus years back and thought it would be good to read Uris's perspective from the Palestinian view.
Compelling read - but violent and didn't finish the book as a result
